Slimline Embossing Folders and making my way back to crafting

Hellooooo!  So, I'm back ..... more on the sorry saga of my life towards the end of this post for those that wanted to know where I've been.

Whimsy Stamps have a new release today, with a totally new product line ... Slimline Embossing Folders! I have used the Wavelengths Embossing Folder for this card, along with the Butterflies Clear Stamp Set, and the Slimline Birthday Scallops Die for the frame.  I also made a matching envelope.

I started off by inking up a panel of Strathmore Mixed Media card (which was the wrong one to use because it was way too thick for the folder, but I was not going to reink the panel again so persevered).  I used Distress Oxides in Aged Mahogany, Victorian Velvet, Spun Sugar and Antique Linen.  I LOVE this colour combination.  I trimmed off a piece to use for the butterflies then ran the panel and embossing folder through the Spellbinders Platinum.  This is the time I'm so glad I bought the full sized version as I could emboss in one pass.

I die cut the frame three times and adhered them together for stability then assembled the card.  I stamped and heat embossed the butterflies, just reversing the ombre colours when adhering to the card so they would stand out better.  I finished off with a heat embossed sentiment also from the Butterflies Stamp Set and some sparkly crystals.

I truly hope those of you that have stuck with my missing in action stunt are keeping well and safe.  Last year was the worst year of my life, I came really close to losing my hubby and he spent a great portion of last year in and out of hospital.  Add to that I've been cloistered in my home office working from home since last March and I wasn't in a very good place.  But, things are on the up now and I've actually been motivated to make a few cards.  I'd forgotten how to colour, and even had to relearn Photoshop!  This old brain needs to be used else the cobwebs set in!

Thank you for sticking with me ❤️️

    1. Hi Margaret! My husband Dave & I raise Monarch's as a hobby, here in Central Florida! May I ask where you are located? We've had one group of 25 in February. And we currently have 18 in our "condos" for them until they hatch now! I call them my babies! Would you be willing to send me an email or FB? I am tracistarkweather@gmail.com.

    2. Welcome back, Beverly! I am so sorry to hear about the struggles you had to face last year. It sure can be a lot. Sometimes, it's nice to talk with a stranger. Feel free to unload on me any time. If it will help ease your load, I'm happy to listen...and prat. I hope your husband is healing. I hope you are also healing from what must have been a very scary year! Now, that chapter is hopefully over.

This card is so pretty! I must have missed the beginning, when this size card was introduced! Will you please tell me the size? Does it take more than one postage stamp in the US, because it is an unique size? (Like squares?! 😛)

I love butterflies! My husband and I raise Monarch butterflies here in Florida to help grow their numbers and hopefully help them get off the Endangered Species list!

The colors on your card are wonderful! I do love the trim around the outside, too. The part I mess up on is usually getting the butterflies straight! Now with butterflies, I could make them this way and that way. Not as easy if they were buttons! Any advice?

Thank you very much for sharing this cheerful card! Please take me up on my offer, any time.

Also, i love how you used the different colored butterflies on your envelope a lot!

    3. Thanks Traci. I used the standard slimline die, I'm in the UK so unsure what your postage costs are but if I recall correctly I heard mention of it fitting a business envelope (don't quote me - I could be wildly wrong)
