Slimline Daisies on Vellum

I've been wanting to colour on vellum with copic markers for a while and the Dainty Daisies Slimline Background Stamp is a great stamp to try this technique out on.

I heat embossed the stamp with white embossing powder then coloured on the back of the vellum.  I didn't fuss too much with shading, just used two copic markers in each colour.  Blue - B02, B00; Pink RV32, RV11; Lilac V15, V01 and Y19 for the flower centres.

I ran the coloured panel through my Xyron machine so I could adhere this to a panel of white card without any messy glue showing through.  This worked a treat - I must remember to use the Xyron more often!  I've been clearing out my craft room and you wouldn't believe the stuff I've found that I didn't even know I had bought!

I popped this up behind a frame I made using the Slimline Scallop Peekaboo 1 Die, I love how easy it is to convert this die into a frame.

I stamped, heat embossed and die cut the "Sweet" from the Doodle Frames Clear Stamps and Doodle Frames Outline Die Set along with the Best Friend Word Die Set that I die cut from gold satin card.  The card looked a bit unfinished so I stamped, heat embossed and fussy cut one of the Butterflies Clear Stamps and finished off with a bit of bling on the body.

Gnome Party

I've decided I LOVE making little scenes for my characters, so this sweet Gnome Party Row stamp set by Crissy Armstrong for Whimsy Stamps was just perfect to get my fiddle on.

I started off with a panel of Bristol Smooth and inked on the sky, then made a stencil using the Grass and Cloud Edger Die Set and inked up layers of grass.  I also cut a slimline length strip of grass from the Build a Fairy Garden Die Set for extra dimension.  I used Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide for the sky and Cracked Pistachio with a touch of Mowed Lawn for the grass.  Please see the end of the post for the list of copic colours used as it's rather a long one!

I then got to the fun part - die cutting and colouring those cute little flowers and toadstools to build the scene.  Aren't they just fab!?  They're all from the Slimline Meadow Die Set.  So not only a great interactive die, but the fiddle bits are perfect for all sorts of cards too.

I stamped a sentiment from the Gnome Party Row stamp set then die cut it along with the red frame from the Simple Sentiments Strips Die Set.  This useful set is permanently out on my desk, I can't see me putting it away for a long, long time!

I coloured the gnomies with the following copic markers

Green: G16, G03, YG41
Teal: BG18, 15, 32
Blue: B87, 95, 93, 91
Violet: V15, V12, V01
Pink: RV34, RV11, RV10
Yellow: V91, Y15, Y13, Y11
Skin: E04, E11, E00 and E13, E11, E21
Beards: T3, T1, T0 and W3, 1, 0
Hair: E55, 53, 50 and E43, 41, 40

Dainty Daisies Slimline Background Stamp

Whimsy Stamps have today released a new background stamp - Dainty Daisies Slimline Background Stamp, and it's a stunner!

I made a very quick and simple card to showcase this pretty stamp, I heat embossed an inked panel.  I prefer to ink, leave to dry then heat emboss, I just feel the white embossing powder stays white.  I kept the colour palette simple, using just Squeezed Lemonade, Spun Sugar and Shaded Lilac, blending well between the colour changes.

Once the panel was complete I trimmed it to fit behind the larger frame from the Slimline Birthday Scallops Die Set, then mounted this on to a pale lilac card blank.

I die cut the scalloped circle from the Happy Sayings Die set three times and adhered them together after stamping the "hello" from the co-ordinating Happy Sayings Clear Stamps, then finished off with some vellum butterflies that I die cut from the Slimline Scalloped Edge Pocket Die.  Those solid butterflies are perfect for vellum.

I'll be back tomorrow with a card featuring new GNOMIES!!

Awesome Birthday Wishes

Following on from my rather pink birthday card yesterday, I went with a more colourful look for this birthday card.  It was a lot quicker to make and a lot less fiddly!

I started off with a sheet from the 6 x 6 Eat Cake Paper Pack, cut it to fit a standard card base and matted this on to a piece of red card.  I die cut the new Awesome Large Word Die from red card 3 times and adhered these together.  Once it was adhered in place on the card I gave the word and the candy a coat of Nuvo Crystal Glaze for some shine then completed the rest of the sentiment using stamps from the Happy Sayings Clear Stamp Set.

This card came together so quickly and went straight into my daughter's school kiddies birthday cards box.  Man does that lass ever get through kiddies birthday cards!

Make a Wish - Slimline Style

I just LOVE this Make Wish Stamp Set from Whimsy Stamps - it's the perfect image for a slimline card!  I teamed the cake with the delish 6 x 6 Eat Cake Paper Pack along with the matching Make A Wish Outline Dies and the Slimline Fancy Frame Die.  I love the scallops on that frame!

I had to make like origami with the paper so that I could make the 6 x 6 work on the slimline card, so I just chopped the paper in half then added on some pink and white stripes to the bottom so it would fit behind the frame.

I coloured the cake, candles and balloon with copic colours.  The balloon started out life as the number 0 but because I used no line ink I could modify the 0 into a long balloon, though I had to fussy cut that piece so the centre would stay intact.

I used E35, 33, 53 and 51 for the cake, R85,83, 81 for the icing and balloon, BG09, 15, 11 for the plate and W3, 1, 0, YR16, Y13 for the candles. I added some "sprinkles" with a Uniball Silver Glitter Pen.

I finished off with a sentiment from the Simple Sentiment Strips Clear Stamps and die cut it with the amazing new Simple Sentiments Die Set.  This die set is just amazing as not only do you get a slim sentiment strip in loads of different lengths, you also get the perfect frame for each size like the pretty matching pink frame on this card.

Gerber Daisies Take #2 (the easy way)

Sometimes I just don't fancy colouring so wanted to make an easy card using the new Whimsy Stamps Gerbera Daisies and Die Combo that I used on the no line watercoloured card I posted yesterday.

I inked a panel of Bristol Smooth with Distress Inks = Shaded Lilac, Peacock Feathers, Cracked Pistachio, Twisted Citron, Squeezed Lemonade, Dried Marigold, Kitsch Flamingo and Festive Berries.  I set it aside to dry then stamped out the Gerbera Daisies with Versamark Ink and heat embossed with white embossing powder.  I prefer to ink then stamp, that way the embossing stays bright white rather than discolouring.

The dies hadn't arrived from the USA thanks to the not so fabulous "Covid" postage service, so I fussy cut the border (hence it not being as perfect as using the die would have been).  I stamped a sentiment from the Simple Sentiment Strips Clear Stamps on a panel of white card and adhered the inked flower panel on top.

I created a scalloped frame using the Quilted Rainbow Inlaid Die and popped this on the card front with foam tape.

A super quick and easy card, I really need to make more of these.

Gerber Daisies with Zig Markers

Whimsy Stamps  has a new release today, and part of the release is this stunning Gerber Daisies Stamp and Die Combo.  I decided to do a spot of no line colouring and opted for the Zig markers again, but this time instead of using water and a brush I used the blender brush included in the set.  I'm in love!  Seriously it made the colouring an absolute doddle, I thought I would be on forever getting this stamp coloured and definitely would have had I used the traditional water method.  I used one colour per flower/leaf and used the blender brush to spread the colour.  I used Strathmore Bristol Smooth again and got a really great result.  Next project is to try the blender with my Arteza markers and see what sort of result I get.

The Zig colours used are:
055 pale yellow, 052 bright yellow, 054 pale orange, 070 orange
021 light carmine, 024 wine red, 029 geranium red
060 brown
035 deep blue
041 light green, 044 deep green

Once I had coloured the image I used a Uniball Gold Glitter pen to add in some gold dots for a bit of sparkle, then heat embossed a sentiment from the Everyday Scripted Sentiments stamp set then matted this on to some gold pearl card and finished off with some sequins.

I have a pile of patterned papers that will never in a million years get used so I've decided to stop keeping them for a rainy day and have started using them to make envelopes for my cards.  This way I can make the card any size I want and always have a fancy schmancy envelope to match.

Here's a peek at what the DT have done with this newest release

I have another card using this stamp and die set, but very much easier as there's no colouring.  I'll have that up on the blog in the next few days.

Have a lovely bank holiday weekend, even though the weather looks a bit naff.

Floral Wonder - Watercolour Brush Markers

I've watched a fair few videos demonstrating brush markers/pens whilst being MIA this past year, so I thought I would give them a try.  I did, and failed epically.  I ended up buying three different sets of markers over the past couple of years and eventually decided they were not for me, Copics are my happy place.

Then I watched more videos, the ones that address the paper and eureka, success at last!  Now I just need to find a way to use up all the watercolour pads I bought and failed on, I don't do things by half, that's for sure,

I stamped the Floral Wonder by Woodware on to Strathmore Bristol Smooth card with Lawn Fawn Jellyfish ink and used Zigs to colour the image.

069 Blush, 230 Pale Rose, 044 Deep Green, 043 Olive Green and 098 Pale Dawn Grey for shading/shadows.

I used a sentiment from the MFT Bitty Birthday stamp set and sequins from Little Things from Lucy - Beauty

I've made other cards with Arteza brush markers and also watercolours that I will share in the coming days.  I'm rather enjoying having some me time with paintbrushes and markers.

Slimline Pandas

Two cards in one week, the break must have done me good!  I've used the other new Slimline Embossing Folder for my card, this one is Slimline Embossing Folder Thatched

As with the previous card, I inked up a panel of cardstock with Distress Oxides in Cracked Pistachio, Iced Spruce, Rustic Wilderness and Pine Needles before running it through the die cutting machine with the embossing folder.  I then took a fine sanding block and lightly sanded off the thatched pattern to help it pop off the page.

I die cut three layers of cardstock with the Slimline Waves Die, adhered them together and then adhered to the embossed panel.  This was fixed to a slimline card blank.

I coloured the cheeky pandas from the Panda Butt Clear Stamp Set with copic markers using C9, 7, 5 and C0,00 plus a touch of R30 for the cheeks then cut them out and popped them on the card front with some foam tape.  I also stamped and cut out one of the bamboo images for the panda to climb on.

I finished off the card with a sentiment stamped and heat embossed - I used the Butterflies Clear Stamp Set, the font is just perfect.  I'm trying to make more generic cards, I'm drowning in birthday cards I've made so many!

Back soon with a first attempt with Zig markers.

Slimline Embossing Folders and making my way back to crafting

Hellooooo!  So, I'm back ..... more on the sorry saga of my life towards the end of this post for those that wanted to know where I've been.

Whimsy Stamps have a new release today, with a totally new product line ... Slimline Embossing Folders! I have used the Wavelengths Embossing Folder for this card, along with the Butterflies Clear Stamp Set, and the Slimline Birthday Scallops Die for the frame.  I also made a matching envelope.

I started off by inking up a panel of Strathmore Mixed Media card (which was the wrong one to use because it was way too thick for the folder, but I was not going to reink the panel again so persevered).  I used Distress Oxides in Aged Mahogany, Victorian Velvet, Spun Sugar and Antique Linen.  I LOVE this colour combination.  I trimmed off a piece to use for the butterflies then ran the panel and embossing folder through the Spellbinders Platinum.  This is the time I'm so glad I bought the full sized version as I could emboss in one pass.

I die cut the frame three times and adhered them together for stability then assembled the card.  I stamped and heat embossed the butterflies, just reversing the ombre colours when adhering to the card so they would stand out better.  I finished off with a heat embossed sentiment also from the Butterflies Stamp Set and some sparkly crystals.

I truly hope those of you that have stuck with my missing in action stunt are keeping well and safe.  Last year was the worst year of my life, I came really close to losing my hubby and he spent a great portion of last year in and out of hospital.  Add to that I've been cloistered in my home office working from home since last March and I wasn't in a very good place.  But, things are on the up now and I've actually been motivated to make a few cards.  I'd forgotten how to colour, and even had to relearn Photoshop!  This old brain needs to be used else the cobwebs set in!

Thank you for sticking with me ❤️️
