Dragons and Ladybugs!

Whimsy Stamps released this sweet Garden Dragons Stamp Set yesterday.  That face is all I'm saying!

I created a little scene for him by inking up a panel of Bristol Smooth - I use the cheaper Canson Bristol Smooth pads at £6 for 20 sheets and keep the Strathmore for colouring.  The Canson works a charm for ink blending!

I then inked up a piece in Cracked Pistachio and Mowed Lawn then die cut it using the Build a Fairy Garden Die Set, then die cut a scrap of card and used that as a stencil to ink in some grass for texture.  This was then die cut using the Wonky Stitched Rectangles Die Set and added a die cut sun from the Up in the Clouds Die Set that I coloured with copic markers.

Copic colours used:

Sun: Y17, 15, 13, 11 and an orange pastel pencil for extra shading
Dragon: W5, 3, 1, 0; R46, 27, 14; Y15, 13, 11

After I had photographed this card I realised it's almost a carbon copy of this one I did a while back, and that doesn't really surprise me.  My hubby has been so very poorly again that I don't know whether I am coming or going.  He was admitted to hospital again yesterday after an 11 hour wait in casualty, not fun in the middle of a pandemic.  It's reached the point that something had to give so I've had to make some choices and, as much as I didn't want to, I have had to stand down from the Whimsy design team.  This past year has taken a huge toll on us both and so although I will still make some me time in my craft room, my posts will be shorter and more sporadic.  I do have a whole folder of cards sat there waiting to be posted so there will still be posts up on my blog, just not DT stuff.

The Bees Knees

I managed to squeeze in a non Halloween card from Whimsy Stamps' newest release using the new Bees Knees Clear Stamp Set.

I  stamped some stripes with smoky grey ink with the Get In Line Clear Stamp set, but kept the stamps on the acetate panel so I wouldn't get wonky lines when stamping.  I die cut the panel using the Wonky Stitched Rectangles Die Set and adhered this to a kraft card base.

I stamped and coloured the image then fussy cut and adhered to the card front with foam tape, and finished off with a sentiment from the Everyday Mini Sentiments Clear Stamp set

Eek!

This is definitely an Eek card, those spiders!! 😱

This is my second Halloween card for the newest Whimsy Stamps release and I kept it really simple with ink blending and die cutting.

I inked a panel of Bristol Smooth cardstock with Squeezed Lemonade, Carved Pumpkin, Wilted Violet and a touch of Chipped Sapphire distress oxides, felt the yellow was too garish so went over that with some Scattered Straw to soften it a bit.  I then splattered the inked panel with water and a fine mist of black watercolour.  Once dry, I die cut the Eek Word and Shadow Die - once from the inked panel and a shadow from black cardstock.

I die cut a web and some spiders from the Spiders and Webs Die Set and job done!  Another really quick and simple Halloween card done.

Whiimsy Stamps Hourglass Slimline Die and the cutest Ghosties ever

Day 2 of the new release and  Whimsy Stamps sure have come up with a unique Slimline Hourglass Die,  which I have paired with the fabulous Spiders and Webs die set and the oh so cute Halloween Ghost Gang digital set.  I was able to size down those sweet ghosties to fit on to the front of the card perfectly.  I used Word to do this then printed them off and coloured them with copic markers.

I inked up a background using Picked Raspberry, Wilted Violet and Chipped Sapphire Distress Oxides then die cut the hourglass die.  I used vellum for the glass part, and coloured in the sand and stand with copic markers.

For a girl that doesn't get Halloween I sure love the cuteness of these ghosties.  That Vampire!!! 💗

Whimsy Stamps Halloween release

Today sees the first of 4 Halloween releases from Whimsy Stamps although there are non-Halloween goodies dotted throughout to keep this old girl sane haha.

I've used the new slimline Haunted Graveyard Border Die for this card, though I chopped off both ends so it would fit on a standard A2 card.  I inked a panel of Bristol Smooth cardstock with Distress Oxides - Squeezed Lemonade, Mowed Lawn, Lucky Clover and a touch of Chipped Sapphire.  Once it was dry I splattered on some white copic ink for a starry effect.

I stamped on the Happy Halloween sentiment from the Gnome Witch Rubber Stamp then matted the panel on to black card and then on to a piece of patterned paper from the Vintage Halloween 6 x 6 Paper Pack.

I die cut the Haunted Graveyard Border Die from textured black cardstock, popped some yellow card behind the windows and adhered this to the front of the card and finished off with some bats from the border die.  The card looked like it was missing something so I die cut a black grassy border using the Build a Fairy Garden Die Set and then inked this with Mowed Lawn and Chipped Sapphire Oxide ink.

I have another three cards to go up this week, hopefully I will be able to stay back in the swing of things and not go missing for another month.  My hubby had yet more surgery last month and yeah, things haven't been very good in my world again.  But he's home and on the mend .... again ... and I'm so grateful that we had the option to have the surgery done privately rather than wait for the NHS to get caught up, if they ever do.

Gnome so thankful

A very quick post from me today because I'm looking after a poorly hubby again.  This is my second card from the latest Whimsy Stamps release, and I'm thrilled that there are more gnomes, and I've used the Gnome So Thankful stamp set.  Nobody does gnomies quite like Whimsy Stamps does, just saying.

I created a background using distress oxides in Tumbled Glass and Cracked Pistachio then added in some flicks of grass with a copic marker.  I stamped, coloured and fussy cut the gnome and apple barrel with copic markers, using the following colours:

Reds: R59, 46, 24, 14 (and a touch of YG03 for the apples)
Skin: E04, 11, 000
Beard: BV31, E41, E40
Barrel@ E25, 23, 21; C5, 3, 1, 0

I finished off with a sentiment from the Simple Sentiment Strips Stamps and Simple Sentiment Strips Dies

Have a blast

It's all about aliens and UFO's for this new Whimsy Stamps release, though there are some adorable gnomes that were also released (more on those tomorrow!)

I started this card off with the fab background paper from the Slimline Lost in Space paper pack. I then inked up a panel of cardstock with black distress oxide ink and cut out a shape with the new Revealers 2 die set so the moon would just be peeking out.  I adhered this to the background with foam tape.

I die cut the new UFO Die Set from mirror card as well as white card and used copic markers to add colour.  I coloured a piece of vellum with yellow copics and cut out the "beam" also with the UFO Die Set, and finished off with some green aliens and tiny holographic star confetti and a sentiment from the Simple Sentiment Strips Clear Stamps and co-ordinating Die Set

Tropical Florals

Tropical Florals is another fabulous background stamp from Whimsy Stamps (released just yesterday).  I wanted to create a tropical inked background and I love how the white embossing pops off those beautiful Distress Oxide inks.  I used Salvaged Patina, Squeezed Lemonade and Abandoned Coral.

I inked up a piece of card with the Salvaged Patina and popped it behind a frame I made using the Scallop Circle Frames die set.  I then die cut and layered up the "You" from the You Are die set and adhered in place.  I stamped the "hello" before adhering the die cut.

Flower Wishes - new release

Whimsy Stamps have a new release out and for my first card for this release I've used the pretty Flower Wishes stamp setI stamped and heat embossed the image on to copic friendly paper then used the following copics to colour it:

Bottle and water: BG01, 000, 0000
Flowers: RV55, 52, 10
Leaves: YG17, 03; BG75, 57

I fussy cut the image as I don't have the matching Flower Wishes Outline Dies then mounted this on to a die cut background.  I used the Lattice A2 die, I really love the white on white textured effect.  I heat embossed a sentiment from the stamp set adhered that in place with some foam tape.

Beach setting

I've need quite a lot of these hello type cards and thought this new Beach Setting rubber stamp from Whimsy Stamps would fit the bill. I coloured the image with copic markers:

Sky BG000, 0000
Sand dunes: E33, 41, 40
Railing and floor: W1, 0, 00
Table and chair seat: E15 13, 11
Chair and vase: B97, 95, 93
Cup and flowers: Y17, 15, 13

I thought this stamp made the perfect photo shot so hand cut a polaroid frame and stamped a sentiment from the Simple Sentiment Strips then adhered this to a background.  I stamped the Criss Cross Gingham Background in Pumice Stone distress oxide ink and matted this on to pale grey card.

Make a wish

Another bright card from me today, I'm going to need a dark room after all this vibrant colour I've been using!

I used that gorgeous Taffy Slimline Paper Pack from Whimsy Stamps, love the colours that I would normally shy away from.  I then die cut a white layer with the Kinetic Curved Basics Die Set and trimmed to fit an A2 card base.

I used the candles from the Slimline Birthday Scallops Die Set, they are the perfect size to make a statement on the card.  I cut 3 from patterned paper and 2 from white copic friendly card then coloured those with YG17, YG13, YG11 markers.

The sentiment was made using part of a sentiment from the Simple Sentiment Strips Clear Stamps and then stamped and die cut the Quirky ABC Clear Stamps and Quirky ABC Outlines Die Set.

Slimline Revealers Die

Whimsy Stamps has a new die that they've added to their slimline range called Revealers 1 Die Set and I've used it to make an under the sea card.

I started of with one of the sheets from the Under the Sea paper pack, then die cut and inked the sea bed using the Revealers 1 die. I used Antique Linen and Frayed Burlap and a scrap of torn paper to add dimension to the sand.  I raised the sea bed up with foam pads and adhered in place.

I then stamped, coloured and fussy cut some fish from the Fish Fancy Stamp Set and also copic coloured some die cuts from the Build an Ocean die set which I adhered in place and then finished off with a sentiment from the Fishing Dragons Clear Stamps and some clear bubbles from my stash.

Gnome Summer Sweet

Whimsy Stamps has a new release out today and I've used one of the wee gnomies from the delightful Gnome Summer Sweet stamp set

I started off this card by die cutting a panel from the Zig Zag Stitched Rectangles die set and masking out a rectangle then ink blended in a cloudy sky with Distress Oxides in Shaded Lilac, Spun Sugar, Squeezed Lemonade and Cracked Pistachio.  I coloured the gnome with copic markers:

Skin E04, 11, 21, 00
Hat: V09, 17, 15, 12
Beard: BV20, E41, E40
Ice Lolly: YG17, 13, 11, E35, E00

I then decided he needed some grass to sit on so die cut the grass from the No-See All Seasons Tree die set and coloured that with copics.  I used the sun and clouds from the Up in the Clouds die set to balance the scene.  I coloured the sun with copic markers and added white gel pen for highlights, and finished off the card with a sentiment from the Gnome Summer Sweet stamp set

Sending Sunshine again

This sweet little bunny from the Sending Sunshine Stamp Set is perfect for a quick hello or thinking of you card.  It's a doddle to colour too!

I stamped a background using the Gingham Background Rubber Stamp and then overlaid a white panel of card which I had die cut using the Slimline Envelope Edger Die Set

I coloured the bunny with  copic markers - W3, 1, 0, 00, R20, 30 and the flowers with BG57, 53, 10.  I also die cut some wee flowers from the No-See All Seasons Tree Die Set and coloured them with the aqua copics.  I fussy cute the bunny and adhered him to the card with foam squares and finished off with a sentiment from the stamp set.

Elegant Butterfly take 2

I had to use that beautiful Elegant Butterfly Stamp again, and changed it up this time by making a standard A2 card, though I did stick with the inked background like I did for the slimline card I posted a couple of days ago.

I used Squeezed Lemonade, Carved Pumpkin and Picked Raspberry  to ink the background and after adding splatters I left it to dry before heat embossing the butterfly.

I finished off with a heat embossed sentiment from the Simple Sentiment Strips Clear Stamps and  coordinating Simple Sentiment Strips Die Set.

A2 envelope die and some blooms

Whimsy Stamps have released a A2 Envelope Builder Die Set this month and I used it to make a coordinating envelope for my card.  I die cut the panels from white cardstock then die cut the address part out of the centre using one of the dies in the set and inserted a soft peach label instead.  Love the stitching detail around the label.  I then masked off part of the front panel so I could heat emboss the blooms from the Fadoodle Blooms Clear Stamps, then folded all the pre-scored lines and adhered the envelope together.  There is also a die in the set to cut out liners for the envelopes.

For the card - I used the Thatched Slimline Embossing Folder to emboss a panel of white card which I trimmed down before adhering to an A2 card base.  I then stamped and heat embossed the blooms and then coloured them with copic markers.  I used R32, 20, 000; BG15, 13, 11, YR31, 30 and then fussy cut the blooms out and adhered on to the card.  I finshed off with some clear droplets and also a heat embossed sentiment from the Fadoodle Blooms Clear Stamps

Elegant Butterfly

I'm back with another card featuring a new stamp that was released yesterday by Whimsy StampsI fell in love with this stunning Elegant Butterfly Rubber Cling Stamp.  There's also a matching Elegant Butterfly Outline Die, though I didn't use it on this card as I wanted to use the stamp to create a background instead.

I inked up a panel of Bristol Smooth cardstock with Distress Oxides in Old Paper (which had a yellow tinge that I wasn't overly fussed on so I covered that with Pumice Stone), them Evergreen Bough, Chipped Sapphire and just a hit of Black Soot at the very top.  I added some splatters and allowed this to dry.  I then stamped and heat embossed the butterflies on the inked panel.  I prefer to work this way as I'm not sure that inking after heat embossing doesn't stain the image.

I finished off with a sentiment from the Simple Sentiment Strips Clear Stamps and die cut that with the matching Simple Sentiment Strips Die Set.

Butterflies and a new Slimline Die

Whimsy Stamps has a new release out today and I've used a couple of new goodies on my card - the Slimline Connected Rectangles Die and we now have a matching Butterflies Outline Die Set for that gorgeous Butterflies Clear Stamp Set that I love so much.

I started off this card by inking a panel of Bristol Smooth cardstock with Tattered Rose, Spun Sugar and Festive Berries Distress Oxide Inks, then die cut the Slimline Connected Rectangles Die three times and adhered them together before adhering on to the inked panel.

I heat embossed the butterflies on to vellum then die cut them out before adhering in place.  I stamped a sentiment from the Simple Sentiment Strips Clear Stamps and used the matching Simple Sentiment Strips Die Set to cut the sentiment out.  I finished off with a few sequins because a girl needs a bit of bling.

Gnome one like you #2

I love these little gnomies illustrated by Crissy Armstrong, they're just the sweetest.

I started off this card by die cutting a panel of Bristol Smooth using the Wonky Stitched Rectangles Die Set and then masked off the edges to give me a window in which to ink in a cloudy sky with Distress Oxides in Spun Sugar, Squeezed Lemonade and Cracked Pistachio.   I used the Simple Sentiment Strips Clear Stamps to stamp a sentiment at the bottom of the window.

I used copic markers to colour the wee gnomie from the Gnome One Like You Stamp Set:
Skin: E13, 11, oo
Beard: BV20, E42, 41, 40
Clothes & Balloon: R46, 35, 24,  14

Magnolias on black

I've been wanting to try out this black background style for a while, and the Magnolia A2 Die is perfect for this style.  I cheated though and did it the quick way - I ran a sheet of white card through the die cutting machine with an embossing mat so I could pick out the different sections to colour.  I coloured in the raised parts of the flowers, buds and leavs with copic markers B04, 02, 00 then filled in the rest with a black copic marker.  I then die cut a panel of gold mirror card and adhered this over the coloured panel.  Bish, bash, bosh - job done!

I finished off with a sentiment from the Simple Sentiment Strips Clear Stamps.

You can see the gold card much better in the second photo, once I changed the angle of the camers

Sending Sunshine

I think we've all had a need for more of this sort of card this past year, and I thought this sweet bunny from the Sending Sunshine Stamp Set just fitted the bill.  I teamed it with the largest from from the Slimline Birthday Scallops Die Set and also the Slimline Buttercup Paper Pack.  I used the Bold ABC Die Set to finish off the card.  I coloured the letters with copic markers for an ombre look.

Slimline Thanks

I couldn't resist using that gorgeous new Slimline Paper Pack - Taffy that was released by Whimsy Stamps yesterday, it's absolutely stunning and makes quick cards a breeze.  I also used those fab new Scallop Circle Frames Die Set again, love these!

I really didn't want to cover too much of the paper up so went with the butterfly from the Butterflies Clear Stamp Set which I coloured with copic markers V17, 15, 12 and then finished off with the die cut from the Thanks Word and Shadow Die Set which I coloured with the same copic markers as used on the butterfly.

I'm definitely making more of these cards to keep on hand!

Celebrate - a new release from Whimsy Stamps

Today's card features a few things from the newest Whimsy Stamps release - Slimline Wavy Edger Die Set, Scallop Circle Frames Die Set and the Slimline Paper Pack - Taffy.  Isn't that paper just gorgeous?!

I am not a yellow fan but love it with the Taffy paper against the white card.  I added some die cut leaves from the No See All Seasons Tree Die Set and also the Celebrate Word and Shadow Die Set to finish off this bright and zingy card
