Whimsy Stamps and Wow! Collaboration Blog Hop

Hello and welcome to the Wow! and Whimsy Stamps collaborative blog hop.  The blog hop starts right now and will run until the 5th of April.

For my first card I stamped the Lattice Background Stamp on to patterned paper (this saved me having to ink a panel of white card, SO much easier!) with Wow! Embossing Ink Pad then I applied Bright White Super Fine Embossing Powder.

I cut the embossed panel using the  Wonky Stitched Rectangles Die Set and adhered to the card with foam pads.  I die cut a frame with the  Pierced and Stitched Circles die set and popped a circle of vellum, behind the frame.

I made some paper flowers using the Poppy Flower Die Set (you can see how I make these flowers in the video hereI finished off by adding some Glass Slipper Sparkles to the ends of the flowers for some pretty!  And I used Wow Metallic Brass to heat emboss a sentiment from the Everyday Mini Sentiments Stamp set

I made flowers from foamiran for the second card, and went with a DL sized card for a change.

I used Mayan Glintz Embossing Powder to give the chipboard frame an enamelled look.  I applied three coats of heat embossing to get a beautiful smooth and glossy finish. I stamped the butterflies from the Flight of the Butterflies stamp set using Turkish Nights Embossing Powder and fussy cut them out.  Once again I used Wow Metallic Brass to heat emboss a sentiment from the Everyday Mini Sentiments Stamp set

I used three layers of the largest petal to make the large flower.  I used white foamiran and coloured it with bubblegum pink Gelatos, and peach foamiran for the smaller blossom flowers (I used the smallest die in the Poppy Flower Die Set  for these dinky ones.  A few black Nuvo Drops finished off the card.  There are a few foamiran flower tutorials on my You Tube channel, the Easy Roses tutorial is probably the best one to show how to make the mini flowers (just use two layers instead of five)

The next (and last) stop on the hop is WOW! Embossing Powder

As we have so many talented designers wanting to play along we decided to celebrate by splitting the blog hop up over two days. The Winners will be chosen at random in the week of the of 8th of April from the comments left on THE POSTS.

Simple Poppy Flowers and video tutorial

Hello!!  I really hope you are all well and staying safe.  I've had a week and a half transitioning from office based working to home based and let me tell you, working from home is not all it's cracked up to be.  BUT!  I'm so very grateful that I can work from home, being on the NHS vulnerable list is not very fun!  Okay, so enough whinging and on to my blog post, short and sweet it is.

Whimsy Stamps have a March Special Release and this Poppy Flower Die Set and Lattice A2 Die is part of the release.

I managed to squeeze in some time ....  after 2 years of no video making ....  and filmed a quick video to show just how quick and easy it is to make these paper flowers.  I used 160gsm (60lb)paper for the blue poppies, and 300gsm (110lb) card for the red poppies.  I did try and film the tutorial with the red card but the lighting and the video were not having a bit of it.  After umpteen attempts I went with the blue.  You'll see how much more life-like and crinkled the red flowers are, that's down to using the thicker card so do experiment with scraps, you'll get a different result with different card/paper thicknesses as you can see from the two pictures below (click to enlarge)

I used the Lattice die as the background for both cards, and adhered 3 die cuts together to give more depth to the background and finished off both cards with a sentiment from the Adopt don't Shop Dogs clear stamp set and Nuvo drops in black.

That's it from me today.  Please stay safe and keep your distance!

Pink sunflowers anyone?!

Whimsy Stamps has a special release going to today with some really gorgeous goodies up for grabs!  I fancied doing some copic colouring so decided to colour up this stunning Sunflower Background Rubber Stamp.

I used the following copic colours:
Petals: YR20, Y11, RV29, RV25, RV23,
Centre: RV29, E17, 15, 13, YR23, Y11

Once I'd finished the colouring I die cut the panel using the Wonky Stitched Rectangles Die Set and wrapped a piece of vellum over the front before adhering in place with foam tape.  I coloured up a scrap piece of white card using RV29, RV25 and RV23 ombre style and die cut the  Celebrate Word and Shadow Die Set from the ombre card and white card, then adhering in place on the vellum.

I finished off with some clear AB sequins and I absolutely love how this card turned out.  I know you don't get pink sunflowers in the real world, but in Bev's world?  Yeah, you totally do ha!

I have some poppy flower dies that released today, and I have a tutorial and a blog post due up on Tuesday featuring those, so please do pop back.

Here's a peek at just some of the gorgeousness the rest of the DT girls came up with.

Cow Party!

I think I can safely say the  Criss Cross Gingham Background Rubber Stamp from Whimsy Stamps is going to end up being one of my most used and favourite stamps.  I paired it with the Cow Party clear stamp set.  Will you just look at those eyes!! 👀

I stamped the background with Catherine Pooler's Bellini (this ink is seriously the BEST ink I've ever stamped with, I get a perfect impression every time).  I then die cut the panel using the Peekaboo Window Die 4, and then popped this up over the cow images with foam tape.  I used copic markers to colour the images:

Cows: BV29, BV25, BV23, E41, 4E0, W00, E02, E01, E000
Hat and balloon: RV29, R25, R21,YR07,YR04, YR01
Cake and candles: E08, E33, YR 07, YR01, Y17, 11
Background: BG01, BG000, BG0000

I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment and finished off with some black Nuvo Drops.

Water Coloured Background

It's been a while since I had such a wonderful time making a card.  I really need to get my watercolour paints out more often, that's for sure.

I stamped the eggs from the Easter Memories Clear Stamp Set  in Memento London Fog ink on to watercolour paper in a pattern to create a background, then filled in the spaces with two of the feathers.  I then water-coloured these using Windsor and Newton paints.  Once the panel was dry I used the Wonky Stitched Rectangles Die Set and wrapped some twine around the top.  I matted this on to a charcoal grey card blank and finished off with a heat embossed sentiment, also from the Easter Memories stamp set, then popped on some Grey Mist Nuvo Drops.  I dropped the liquid on to freezer paper and allowed them to dry before adhering to the card, love the dimension this gives as the drops don't get absorbed into the paper.

Whimsy March Release - gingham, treat boxes and Easter!

What happened to February?  Wow, that went quick!  So, it's a new month and a new release from Whimsy Stamps.  For today's projects I've used the Easter Memories Clear Stamp Set, the Criss Cross Gingham Background Rubber Stamp, the Nested Hexagon Die Set and the cute little Hexagon Treat Box Die.

I die cut the card base using the largest die from the Nested Hexagon Die SetI then stamped out the background with some scattered straw distress oxide ink and cut a panel out.  The image was stamped then coloured with copic markers and finished off with a sentiment from the stamp set and die cut that using the hexagon dies.  I finished off with some tiny mulberry flowers, die cut leaves and twine.

I stamped another background panel for the treat box.  I die cut the treat box from white card and assembled it (this is SO easy to do, all the lines are scored when you die cut it so a few quick folds and dabs of glue and the box is made.)  I stamped a sentiment on to the hexagon patterned paper and adhered it to the top of the box, with some strips of paper around the sides to finish it off.

I'll be back tomorrow with a water coloured card (yes, I actually broke them out and had a play) using some of the new goodies.

Here's some projects made by the other talented ladies on the DT
