Getting inky

This card is so far out of my comfort zone, but I love how it turned out.  I bade the background by inking up Bristol Smooth card stock with a mix of distress inks - tumbled glass, mermaid lagoon, faded jeans and a touch of black soot.

Once that was dry I stamped out the sea bed using the Create a Scene Beach stamp set with black ink, then using white pigment ink and the Sun Rays stencil I inked in some rays into the water.

After that was all dry I set too with some black in and the fab new Ocean Stencil to ink in the diver, fish and seaweed.

I finished off with some bubbles that I stencilled in with some white acrylic paint and Stickles (still got to have my bling ha!) and then die cut using the Zig Zag Stitched Rectangle dies and a sentiment from the Everyday Banner Sentiments (digi)

Caregiver Hugs

Whimsy Stamps are doing a mini release this month that are cancer/illness related.  We've all been or all will be touched by this in some way and I for one am at a loss on what to say when that happens and indeed we often forget about the caregivers that give their all to those that need it.

These stamps are just perfect for this, and I've used the Caregiver Hugs clear stamp set for today's card.  This is such a darling stamp set,  and worked perfect with my foofy more is more style that I had seemed to veer away from for a while.

I coloured the image with copic markers:

Bears: E25, 21, 50; W3, 1, 0, 00
Grass: G29, 46, 43, 40, 20
Butterflies: R83, RV10

Oh man, I love these wee Gnomies that were released by Whimsy Stamps this month.  Too stinking cute and such a pleasure to colour.

I die cut the white base layer using the delish Zig-Zag Stitched Rectangle Die set, then stamped out the grass from the Create a Scene Beach stamp set using bundled sage distress ink.

I stamped out the Gnomies and mushrooms on to some white card and coloured them with copic markers before fussy cutting them out to pop them up on some 3D foam pads.  Did I say I LOVE these cuties?!?

I die cut a wedge shape from patterned paper using the Envelope Edger Die set and matted this on to some red card.  And finished this all off with a the Celebrate Word and Shadow Die set in red and white

Happy Place, Fathers Day

I struggle with cards for blokes, I really do but this new stamp set - Happy Place - from Whimsy Stamps was just what I needed to get a quick Dad's day card made.

I die cut the fabulous Checker Board Background Die from wood effect paper which I popped on to white card stock with some 3D foam for a bit of dimension.  I coloured the stamp with copic markers then hit it up with some Wink of Stella (because even blokes need bling, right?) and finished off with a sky background with tumbled glass distress ink and a digital sentiment from the Father's Day Digital Sentiments set

Stretchy Ostrich!

Back with another card for the Whimsy Stamps June release using the super fun Stretchy Ostrich rubber cling stamp.  Seriously, how cool is this bird?!?

I loved colouring this one, so quick and easy with minimal copic colours:

C00, 0, 1, 3 for the light feathers
C3, 5, 7 9 for the dark feathers
R22, 20, 30 for the feet, neck and face
YR16, 31, 30 for the beak
YR31, 30 for the champers

I used the Teardrop Splash Stencil to ink a pale pink background for the ostrich, and finished off with a sentiment from the  Everyday Mini Sentiments Stamp set, a scrap of black paper and some sequins.

B is for Boy

It's that time of the month again where Whimsy Stamps  reveal their new release, and once again it's a fabulous one!

I had sooo much fun making this multi layered card (I kinda got carried away and lost count of the layers haha).  When I saw the new Build a Farm Die Set, I instantly saw BABY BOY so went with that.  There's no stamping or colouring on this card, just die cutting and layering up pretty papers.

Because the card is square I wanted to shorten the length of the gorgeous new Checker Board Background Die a bit to fit in with the design I had in mind, so I disguised the cut with a piece of ribbon.  Love how adaptable this die is and it shows off the card beautifully

I die cut the tractor and adhered pieces of white card behind the windows to give it a more dimensional look.  I also cut out the cut little duckies, gave the feet and bills a spot of orange and popped them in the trailer so they could hitch a ride!  I added some enamel dots to the wheels and some clouds from the die set to finish it off.

I'm thrilled to bits with how this card turned out, it's my most favouritest (is that even a word) baby card I've ever made.

The paper is from Nitwit Collections (Hydrangea IIRC), the ribbon and buttons are from my stash.
