Vintagey shabby Christmas Postcard

I've decided I way prefer my old style of shabby chic card making over the CAS look because I NEED to faff and fiddle so was in my happy place whilst making this Christmas Card.

I made up a vintage looking postcard by stamping elements from the Christmas Postcard Clear Stamp set from Whimsy Stamps on to a piece of the patterened paper I was using (I think it's either old Pion or Maja that I used for this card, probably a mixture of both IIRC)

Then I stamped on the pine cone image in distress ink and added a touch of Artiza brush markers to add a bit of colour.  And then ... I hit it with some Distress Glitter because ... Bling!

I made the poinsettia from 160 gsm white paper that I coloured with oil pastels before shaping.  I used the Lily Flower Die for this, but the petals are die cut in sets of 3 so I just did a bit of trimming and rearranging to get 5 petals for each layer and voila, a 5 petal poinsettia.  I love getting more out of my dies.  I die cut some foliage in different shades of blue and some white using the Christmas Branch Die Set and finished off with some white berries and more glitter.

I added a sentiment from the Christmas Memories Clear Stamps which I heat embossed on to black card.  I wasn't too sure about the black at first, but ended up liking the pop it gives.

Tartan Plaid CAS (well, sort of)

Tartan Plaid is the new background stamp that Whimsy Stamps released this week, it's it just fab?!  I love the different looks you get from changing up the ink colour.

For the gold card, I stamped the background in Pumice Stone Distress Oxide then heat embossed a sentiment from the Christmas Postcard Clear Stamp Set with gold EP.  I used the same EP to heat emboss the chipboard bauble and finished off bling because ... Christmas!

The second card I used Memento black ink and matted this on to red card.  Love red, black and white together.  I die cut the Merry Large Word Die three times from red cardstock and adhered the layers together for a bit more dimension.  I finished off with some glittery snowflakes and red Nuvo Drops.

Bunny Delivery - Whimsy Stamps November Release

It's Whimsy Stamps release day!  I've gone crazy for all things cute lately so was right in my happy zone when this CUTE stamp set landed.

I started off creating the background scene by heat embossing the trees from the Bunny Delivery Stamp set then inking in the sky using Spun Sugar and Victorian Velvet Distress Oxides.  I cut out some white card for the snow banks and inked them with Scattered Straw Distress Oxide, fading out to white for the tops of the snow banks then slathered on some chunky and fine glitter because .... bling!

I coloured the bunny and sled with copic markers:

Bunny: W3, 1, 0 ,00, R30, R000
Sled: C3, 0; E74, 70
Red: R59, 39. 37, 35
Gold: YR27, 23, Y11

I fussy cut the image out and popped it up with some foam pads and finished off with a sentiment also from the stamp set.  The birch trees and cardinals in the background have a story.  See, I used them for this month instead of next .... oopsie!  So you get a sneaky peek of what's coming next month.  My bad 😳

Whimsy Mini Release - Card #2

For a girl who just does not get the whole Halloween hoopla I'm on a roll with Halloween cards this year, though this is the last - I'm all Halloween'd out. 😂

I started off with the Wonky Window 3 die as the base for the card and love how the black sets off the inked background.  I used Distress Oxides in Fossilised Amber, Picked Raspberry and Wilted Violet then added some water splashes and splattered some black paint over it.

The sign is stamped then cut out from the Sleepy Hollow stamp set, and I added some bats that I cut from the Bats & Bubbles border die set.

I finished off with the image from the Got Peepers stamp set, coloured with copic markers
Hat: V17, 15, 12,01; G14, YG03; YR24, Y11
Cat: C9, 7, 5; R30; G14, YG03

Whimsy Stamps Mini Release

Whimsy is having a mini release today with some delish Christmas goodies.  Those lucky girls are at a the Whimsy Workshop Weekend  I so wish I was there!

For my card today I've used the sweet Santa's Train Clear Stamp Set and coloured the images with copic markers, then fussy cut them out so I could pop them in the windows of the Slimline Postage Die.

I created the background with Distress Oxides - Tumbled Glass, Stormy Sky, Faded Jeans and a touch of Chipped Sapphire.  When the ink was dry I applied some glittery stencil paste through my FAVE of the new release - the Twinkle Stencil.  Love, love, love this stencil, I can see me wearing this out from over-use ha!

I have another card for the new release that I'll pop on my blog in a couple of days.

Christmas Bling!

I've a couple of quick Christmas cards that I made using the newly released Snowflake Frame rubber stamp from Whimsy Stamps.

For the blue and gold card (which is totally inspired by and cased from this video) I inked up a background with Distress Oxides - Tumbled Glass, Stormy Sky, Blueprint Sketch, Chipped Sapphire.  Once it was dry I stamped and heat embossed the image, I uses Wow Fairy Tale embossing powder.  I die cut the Christmas Large Word Die and a snowflake from glitter card, and finished off with a merry sentiment and lots and lots of rhinestones because Christmas = BLING!

The second card was a lot simpler as I just stamped and heat embossed the snowflake image in to kraft card stock.  I die cut the Merry Large Word Die from glitter card and a few layers of white card to give a bit more dimension.

I finished off with a sentiment and oodles of blink on this one too.  They're really quick and easy cards to make and great for a production line.

Got Peepers!

It's  Whimsy Stamps release day and my card is all about Halloween.  Whimsy released a whole bevy of Halloween goodies this month, and my card features

I heat embossed the background stamp on to  Neenah cardstock with Versafine  Black Ink and then stamped it again with Versamark so I could emboss it with clear embossing powder.  I then appled Distress Oxide Inks - Picked Raspberry, Carved Pumpkin and Squeezed Lemonade with blender brushes.  Whilst I was doing that I also inked up a scrap of card to pop behind the circle window.

The cat is sooooo easy, a bit of colour for the eyes and ears, a bit of simple fussy cutting and job done!  I finished off with a sentiment from the stamp set and some black nuvo drops.

Prismacolor Flowers

I decided to try something a bit different for a change, and coloured up this gorgeous floral image from the Enjoy the Little Things stamp set from  Whimsy Stamps.  It's been a while since I dug out my pencils and I really need to do this more often, I love how the colouring turned out.

I did some no line colouring - a first for me - and was surprised just how easy it is to do.  I used Antique Linen Distress Ink to stamp up the image before hitting it with the pencils.

I had intended to just have the stamp as the whole card, but one of the lads at work had a closer look at the coloured image and left oily fingerprints on the one side.  I could have cried!!  So, I had to trim it down and offset it with some black and white striped paper.  I used the Zig Zag Stitched Rectangles to cut the image down.  The next time he comes anywhere near my crafty stuff I may have to rearrange his fingers 😜

The lovely sentiment is also from the stamp set, I heat embossed that with white super fine embossing powder.

Back in a few days with cards for the new Whimsy Stamps October release.

Falling Leaves

Instead of using the new Falling Leaves background stamp as a background, I decided to highlight sections of it for two cards.  I got two cards from the one inking and heat embossing, and they came together so quickly too.

I heat embossed gold embossing powder on to a piece of patterned paper.  I felt the embossing wasn't popping enough, so I added some peeled paint distress ink in places to darken the background a wee bit.

For the first card, I die cut some  Pierced and Stitched Circles and arranged them on the card.  The Birthday Word and Shadow Die set was cut from glitter card and vellum.  I finished off the card with a sentiment from the You're my Jolly stamp set with heat embossing on a piece of black card and some black Nuvo Drops

For the second card I used a panel of the embossed background and added some die cut leaves from the Build a Pumpkin Patch Die Set.  I coloured some with copic markers, some are die cut from glitter card, and I popped in a few berries and some branch thingymajiggies that I picked up from Hobbycraft (in their flower arranging section, around £2 for a good sized bag).  I added a sentiment from the Fly By clear stamps set and some Nuvo Drops

Shabby Foamiran Flowers

I decided to get shabby with some foamiran flowers for a change, whilst I like CAS cards, my true love is still the more is more shabby chic card.

I had these foamiran peonies left over from another project that I've been wanting to use up, so when I was having a rummage through my bajillion paper pads and this old Prima pad jumped up and bit me on the hand well, I had to make this card.  It would've been rude not to.

I used the  Peony Flower Die set and coloured the white foamiran with oil pastels.  I cut the card and paper layers from the Notched Squares Die set and layered them up with foam pads for added dimension.  I spattered the top layer with diluted white paint.

The flowers and foliage were adhered on to a die cut doily and finished off with a twine bow.

A sentiment from the Everyday Banner Sentiments, a chipboard heart and a few sparkles finished off the card.

Jingle Owl the Way!

These sweet little Christmas Owls from the Happy Owlidays Stamp Set from  Whimsy Stamps are just the cutest!  So are the fun sentiments that go with them ... I mean, Jingle Owl The Way (snort) 😂

I created the background panel by stamping the Farmhouse Shiplap background stamp onto white card then heat embossing with white pearl embossing powder then die cut a circle out and popped a piece of patterned paper behind to help the little owl pop.

I coloured the image with Copic Markers:

E44, E42, E40, W1, W0, W00 for the body of the owl
E35, 33, 30 for the antlers and feet
B39, 37, 34 for the blue
YR23, 31, Y11 for the beak and bells.

I die cut some holly, mistletoe and berries from the  Christmas Branches die set
and finished off with a few clear Nuvo drops (that I made by dropping on to freezer paper and allowing to dry before adhering to the card - they are way more dimensional done this way as they don't get absorbed into the card when drying).

I die cut the sentiment with the  Quick Strips Die Set

The Happy Owlidays Stamp Set sold out not long after they were released, and I'm not surprised either.  They're back in stock now if you want them.
