Starry Stag

Merry Christmas!  I hope it was a fabulous one for you.

My last card for 2019 ..... where on earth did this year go to?  It's been a hectic year, that's for sure (either that or I'm way older than I think I am!) 😂

I hand cut star shapes from white card to make the base for today's card, then cut out different sized stars from the Cozy Winter 6 x 6 Paper Pack from Whimsy Stamps.  The colours are so pretty.  I layered the stars up with foam tape and added the stag from the Forest Majesty Die Set.

I added some handmade paper poinsettias and some die cut and copic coloured leaves from the Christmas Branch Die set, and finished it off with a sentiment from my most used sentiment stamp set - Holiday Mini Sentiments.

I'll be back on the 1st January with the newest Whimsy Stamps release.  Until then, Happy New Year, I hope 2020 brings health, peace and happiness.

Polar Bear's Christmas Tree

Ah man, when I saw this stamp Polar Bear's Christmas Tree (both in rubber and digital formats)  I fell hook, line and sinker.  I mean, will you just look at that FACE!!

I immediately thought icy blues with a touch of lilac and this card practically made itself.  I sketched in a horizon after stamping and masking out the bear, then coloured the snow.  I masked off the horizon and snow and then inked the sky using Distress Oxides in Shaded Lilac, Tumbled Glass and Faded Jeans.  Once the sky was dry I drew in some tiny stars, shooting stars and dotted the white gel pen for even smaller stars.  For a girl who only ever used patterned paper I am LOVING making my own backgrounds!

I die cute the image panel with the Zig Zag Stitched Rectangles Die Set.

I used the following copic markers for to colour the image:

Bear: BV21, E41, 40, 0000, C9, 5 (** see note below on the inspiration for the bear's colours)
Foliage: BG78, G99, G94, YG67, white Gelly Roll pen
Star: Y28, YR23, Y15, Y11
Bauble: R46, 35,14
Snow C1, 0, 00, BV21, BG0000, Blender Pen

(** The colours of the bear are totally inspired by Elaine Hughes (Marker Geek on You Tube) - I could spend days watching her videos, they are just that good.)

I finished off with a snowflake border die and a computer generated sentiment as well as a few clear sequins.

Tweety Pies on Ice ❄️

Something a bit different from me today, just blending and colouring and a bit of die cutting.  I really need to make more cards like this, I love the clean/icy look!

I started off by pressing Versamark ink through the Twinkle Stencil then heat embossed with white EP.  I shaded the sky with a soft blend of Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide.  I also did this to the layers of snow banks die cut from the Stitched Border Trio Dies and the tree/house scene from the Mountain Majesty Die SetI layered them on to the background with foam tape for a bit of dimension and added glitter in places for some bling.

I coloured the die cut trees from the Evergreen Trees Die Set then coloured them with copic markers - BG78, 75, G0000. then added some glitter to the lightest parts.  I just love the shape of these trees, and colouring them with copics just takes them to a whole other level.

I wanted a small pop of colour and the Tweety Pie Stamp Set fit the bill.  Aren't those birdies just the sweetest?

I used copic markers again - W1, 0, 00 and E41, 40, W0 for the birds and YG63, 03, R35, R32 and YR16 to colour them.  I added some detail with a white gel pen because .... polka dot boots!  Just saying.

I added some die cut snowflakes and added a tiny touch of bling in the centres.

I finished off with a computer generated sentiment.  I wanted something small but with a bit of pop so did a negative print again for the white on black look.

Victorian flowers - no line colouring with copics

I've only ever attempted no line colouring once, on this card, and that was with pencils.  Trust me to pick a busy image to try this technique out with copic markers. I was a little intimidated at first .... all those petals .... but by breaking it down to one petal at a time it ended up being really easy to colour.  And, I love how it turned out.

I stamped out the Floral Oval stamp from Whimsy Stamps with Ink on 3 Fade Out ink and coloured with the following copic colours:

R46, R27, R24, R32; YG67, YG63, YG03, YR23, Y11

I also coloured the holly leaves from the Christmas Branch die set with the same greens I used on the image.  I've done this before on my previous card and think it makes the die cut leaves look fab, definitely worth the few extra minutes it takes.  The white leaves are frm the same die set.

The poinsettia flowers are handmade from paper using the Lily Flower die set that I first coloured with distress inks and watercolours to get the shade that matched the coloured flowers.  Once everything was adhered in place I added some crushed glass glitter to the flowers and leaves, some Platinum Stickles to the border of the top layer and some pearls.

The sentiment is a digi one from the Christmas Sentiments set, and the papers are Prima from a few years ago.

And now I'm off to hit the shops to do some Christmas shopping, gulp.  Wish me luck!

Ellie's Snowman

Back to my frilly and foo-foo cards with this cute new Ellie's Snowman stamp from the latest release by Whimsy Stamps.  Isn't it just too skinking cute?

I used the delish papers from the 6 x 6 Cozy Winter Paper Pack and coloured the image with copic markers, picking out some of the colours in the papers.

Ellie: C3, 1, 0, 00; R30
Snowman and snow: BG10, 0000
Red: R37, 35, 83
Green: YG67, 63, 03
Hat: C9, 7, 5

I added a sentiment from the Christmas Ellie-ments clear stamp set and finished off with some poinsettias that I made from a piece of the aqua cardstock and the Lily Flower Die Set.  I used a copic marker to draw in the veining on the flowers before wetting and shaping them.  I also tried something different with the holly leaves from the Christmas Branch Die Set, I die cut them from white cardstock and coloured/shaded them with my copic markers to give a more realistic effect.  I LOVE how these turned out, well worth the extra few minutes they took.

Stained Glass Ornaments

Wow, where has this year gone?  It's the last release from Whimsy Stamps for 2019, starting with this phenomenal Stained Glass Ornaments Rubber Stamp.  Oh man, I loved every second I spent colouring this beauty, I really did!

I stamped the panel in my Misti with antique linen ink, then coloured the card using my copic markers.  I started with the background, and kept that in warm grey tones so the baubles would really pop.  Once I'd finished colouring I popped the panel back into the Misti and over stamped with embossing ink then applied gold detail embossing powder and heat embossed.  That way I didn't spoil the gold embossing with my copics when I got carried away (and I definitely do haha).

Copic colours used:
Background: W3, W1, W0, W00
Red: R59, RV25, R35
Copper: E37, E08, E97, E21 (Colour combo from Jennifer Dove's Color of the Day
Gold: Y28, YR23, Y15, Y11
Green: YG67, YG63, YG03

I'll be back tomorrow with another card from the new release.

Oh Christmas Tree

This late in the game I'm all about quick Christmas cards, and this Slimline Scallop Die makes quick cards a doddle.

I stamped and gold heat embossed the trees image from the Bunny Delivery stamp set three times to pop behind the scalloped frame and then adhered the front to the card with foam tape for a bit of dimension.  I added a sentiment from the Christmas Ellie-ments stamp set and popped that in place and finished off with some bling in the centres of the snowflakes.

Job done! 😁

Winter Woods

I have tweaked and rephotographed this card a couple of times, it was one of those that just didn't sit right with me and I had to fiddle.  And, I'm glad I did because I love how it eventually turned out.

Originalloy, I coloured Winter Woods from Whimsy Stamps (which is back in stock) with copic markers, keeping the trees in pale reddish hues and I like it.  Till I put it all together with the pale wood effect background and nope, it just looked lost.  So, I hit it with darker copics and added a snow storm with a white gel pen and YES!!  So much better now.

Copics used

Snow: BG72, BG10, BG0000
Foliage: BG99, G29, G20
Trees: Originally E77, 34, 30 then added E29, 25, 23

I die cut a frame using the Rounded Rectangles Die set  and popped the image behind the frame.  I added a sentiment from my most very favouritest Christmas stamp set of all Holiday Mini Sentiments, then finished off with a few snowflakes, some bling and some twine.

Peaceful Doves shabby style

I'm back to the tall and slim cards, I really love making these.  I made a little treat box from matching papers using the Mini Treat Box Die

I coloured the Christmas Doves rubber stamp with copics and kept the colours to a minimum.  I used W5, 3, 1, 0 and 00 for the doves with a touch of yr24 for the beaks, G46 and 40 for the leaves and BG72 and 70 for the background.

I popped the doves behind a chipboard frame, love how they fit in there so neatly.

I made some foamiran flowers, and added some foliage die cut from the Christmas Branches die set.  I added some berries and clear sequins.

Seriously, how cute is this treat box?  I'm going to use these to pop lottery tickets in for the Christmas dinner table rather than crackers that are a total waste of money - who knows, I may get lucky yet!  I added a foamiran flower to the top and a holly branch (also from the Christmas Branches die set.) to the four panels of the box.

The papers are a mix of Maja and Pion.  I have a huge crate of papers I've collected over the years that I really needed to start using, it's ridiculous the stuff we buy, stroke and put away!

I finished off the card with a computer generated sentiment.  I love that pop of black.

Vintagey shabby Christmas Postcard

I've decided I way prefer my old style of shabby chic card making over the CAS look because I NEED to faff and fiddle so was in my happy place whilst making this Christmas Card.

I made up a vintage looking postcard by stamping elements from the Christmas Postcard Clear Stamp set from Whimsy Stamps on to a piece of the patterened paper I was using (I think it's either old Pion or Maja that I used for this card, probably a mixture of both IIRC)

Then I stamped on the pine cone image in distress ink and added a touch of Artiza brush markers to add a bit of colour.  And then ... I hit it with some Distress Glitter because ... Bling!

I made the poinsettia from 160 gsm white paper that I coloured with oil pastels before shaping.  I used the Lily Flower Die for this, but the petals are die cut in sets of 3 so I just did a bit of trimming and rearranging to get 5 petals for each layer and voila, a 5 petal poinsettia.  I love getting more out of my dies.  I die cut some foliage in different shades of blue and some white using the Christmas Branch Die Set and finished off with some white berries and more glitter.

I added a sentiment from the Christmas Memories Clear Stamps which I heat embossed on to black card.  I wasn't too sure about the black at first, but ended up liking the pop it gives.

Tartan Plaid CAS (well, sort of)

Tartan Plaid is the new background stamp that Whimsy Stamps released this week, it's it just fab?!  I love the different looks you get from changing up the ink colour.

For the gold card, I stamped the background in Pumice Stone Distress Oxide then heat embossed a sentiment from the Christmas Postcard Clear Stamp Set with gold EP.  I used the same EP to heat emboss the chipboard bauble and finished off bling because ... Christmas!

The second card I used Memento black ink and matted this on to red card.  Love red, black and white together.  I die cut the Merry Large Word Die three times from red cardstock and adhered the layers together for a bit more dimension.  I finished off with some glittery snowflakes and red Nuvo Drops.

Bunny Delivery - Whimsy Stamps November Release

It's Whimsy Stamps release day!  I've gone crazy for all things cute lately so was right in my happy zone when this CUTE stamp set landed.

I started off creating the background scene by heat embossing the trees from the Bunny Delivery Stamp set then inking in the sky using Spun Sugar and Victorian Velvet Distress Oxides.  I cut out some white card for the snow banks and inked them with Scattered Straw Distress Oxide, fading out to white for the tops of the snow banks then slathered on some chunky and fine glitter because .... bling!

I coloured the bunny and sled with copic markers:

Bunny: W3, 1, 0 ,00, R30, R000
Sled: C3, 0; E74, 70
Red: R59, 39. 37, 35
Gold: YR27, 23, Y11

I fussy cut the image out and popped it up with some foam pads and finished off with a sentiment also from the stamp set.  The birch trees and cardinals in the background have a story.  See, I used them for this month instead of next .... oopsie!  So you get a sneaky peek of what's coming next month.  My bad 😳

Whimsy Mini Release - Card #2

For a girl who just does not get the whole Halloween hoopla I'm on a roll with Halloween cards this year, though this is the last - I'm all Halloween'd out. 😂

I started off with the Wonky Window 3 die as the base for the card and love how the black sets off the inked background.  I used Distress Oxides in Fossilised Amber, Picked Raspberry and Wilted Violet then added some water splashes and splattered some black paint over it.

The sign is stamped then cut out from the Sleepy Hollow stamp set, and I added some bats that I cut from the Bats & Bubbles border die set.

I finished off with the image from the Got Peepers stamp set, coloured with copic markers
Hat: V17, 15, 12,01; G14, YG03; YR24, Y11
Cat: C9, 7, 5; R30; G14, YG03

Whimsy Stamps Mini Release

Whimsy is having a mini release today with some delish Christmas goodies.  Those lucky girls are at a the Whimsy Workshop Weekend  I so wish I was there!

For my card today I've used the sweet Santa's Train Clear Stamp Set and coloured the images with copic markers, then fussy cut them out so I could pop them in the windows of the Slimline Postage Die.

I created the background with Distress Oxides - Tumbled Glass, Stormy Sky, Faded Jeans and a touch of Chipped Sapphire.  When the ink was dry I applied some glittery stencil paste through my FAVE of the new release - the Twinkle Stencil.  Love, love, love this stencil, I can see me wearing this out from over-use ha!

I have another card for the new release that I'll pop on my blog in a couple of days.

Christmas Bling!

I've a couple of quick Christmas cards that I made using the newly released Snowflake Frame rubber stamp from Whimsy Stamps.

For the blue and gold card (which is totally inspired by and cased from this video) I inked up a background with Distress Oxides - Tumbled Glass, Stormy Sky, Blueprint Sketch, Chipped Sapphire.  Once it was dry I stamped and heat embossed the image, I uses Wow Fairy Tale embossing powder.  I die cut the Christmas Large Word Die and a snowflake from glitter card, and finished off with a merry sentiment and lots and lots of rhinestones because Christmas = BLING!

The second card was a lot simpler as I just stamped and heat embossed the snowflake image in to kraft card stock.  I die cut the Merry Large Word Die from glitter card and a few layers of white card to give a bit more dimension.

I finished off with a sentiment and oodles of blink on this one too.  They're really quick and easy cards to make and great for a production line.
