Whimsy Stamps and Glue Dots Blog Hop

Join us from August 27th through to August 31st for a fun joint blog hop between Whimsy Stamps and Glue Dots. Our teams will be sharing lots of beautiful projects featuring products from both of these companies. And we will have lots of prizes hidden along the hop as well as a grand prize valued at $100!
I’ve made a Christmas card with a foamiran poinsettia that I made using the Lily Flower die set from Whimsy Stamps.
The poinsettia was so easy to make, I cut two large and two small petals, heated and moulded them and glued them together.  I give a bunch of stamens a coat of gold paint and used this for the centre.  Lots of Stickles helped to bling them up.  I used Glue Dots to attach my chipboard frame, stars and leaves.  The Glue Dots Super Strength Permanent Glue Squares were perfect to adhere my paper layers.
I die cut the Christmas sentiment 3 times from white card and once from gold glitter card and adhered them together.
I picked up a few packs of paper straws from the Pound Shop, loving these in amongst the flowers!

Nerissa the Mermaid

Time sure has run away from me this past few weeks, I got so caught up doing a couple of commissions for an exciting new product launching soon that I got lost in my craft room to the exclusion of all else.  So, a short and sweet post tonight.

I have used Nerissa the Mermaid from Whimsy Stamps, and even managed to sneak in some pink!  The sentiment is a digi from the Vintage Sentiments set.

I coloured the image with copic markers, and free-handed some sand and sea weed for a bit extra detail.

Copics used:
Skin: E04, 11, 21, 00, 000, R20
Hair: E27, 25, 21, 50
Aqua: BG57, 53, B00, B000
Pink: RV55, 52, 000
Sand: E35, 21, 11, 00, 00, 000
Seaweed: BG99, 93

I filled a little bottle with tiny rhinestones, so cute!

CAS … me?

Welp, I just proved that I can (sort of, ish) do a CAS card.  It’s still probably too fussy to be true CAS, but it works for me.

I started off by inking through the new Teardrop Splash Stencil onto patterned paper with Bundled Sage Distress Oxide ink, die cut the shape with the Hand Stitched Nested Rectangles dies and finished off with a sentiment from the new Cheeky Sentiments stamps.

I dug out a bit of gingham ribbon from my stash because even if I don’t have flowers and foo-foo frills on my cards I’ve still gotta have layers ðŸ˜‚

Cherry Blossoms

It’s new release time at Whimsy Stamps, and once again there’s some delectable new goodies in this release including another amazing floral background stamp – Cherry Blossom Background.  I’ve used it two ways, the first I watercoloured in soft pastel colours, the second I coloured with prismacolor pencils onto black cardstock.

I used my Tambi Gansai watercolours after heat embossing with rose gold embossing powder.  I added some foamiran flowers – the large one I made using my Hellebore Flower Die Set, the cherry blossom I made using the medium die from my Peony Flower Die Set and finished it off with a sentiment from the Everyday Banner Sentiments , except I inverted it in photoshop to give the negative.  The black background was too heavy for this pastel card.

The second card I’m not too sure about.  See, I loved the soft pink on the black background with the gold embossing, but then I got a not so genius idea to cover the flowers with glossy accents to give a faux cloisonné look and well, the glossy accents seemed to drain the colour right out of the flowers.  It looks much better in real life, the photo not so much Sad smile

I kept this one super simple – the black was enough drama for me and totally rocked my beige world haha.  I finished off the card with a rhinestone in the centre of each flower with a simple greeting.  I die cut the word from the  Word Die Set – Smiles, Happy and Celebrate 4 times and glued together then once dry I coated in glossy accents for some shine.

I’ll be back later in the week with another card featuring new Whimsy products.
