Sending Love–Maja Design

My last card for my Maja Design GDT spot and I think I love this one the most.  The colours from the absolutely gorgeous Enjoying Outdoors collection are just sublime. I used Garden Creatures and I’m Happy papers from the collection.

The shape of the card is die cut from a Tattered Lace die set.

I stamped the chicken wire stamp from the Lovely Lavender stamp set from Whimsy Stamps  randomly on the top layer.  LOVE this stamp ♥♥♥  I also stamped out butterflies from the Flight of the Butterflies stamp set (also Whimsy)  onto patterend paper and fussy cut them out.

I made the bird from a mould and some lightweight clay.  The “wreath” is just a few twirls of twine around my hand to make a rough circle shape which I glued in place under the flowers.

I’ve had such fun getting creative with such amazing goodies to play with.  A huge thanks to Maja Design, and specifically Camilla for having me join them this month.

You are special

I’ve another card made using those sublime Maja Design papers that I’ve been playing with recently.  The papers are from the Vintage Romance collection.

I wanted a frame to fit the fabulous new You Are sentiment set from Whimsy Stamps, but didn’t have a chipboard one that worked with the sentiment.  So, I die cut a frame three times and glued them together to make my own “chippie” frame.  I used the In Stitches stamp set for around the edges of the paper, so much quicker than sitting down at the sewing machine which has been consigned to the corner of the room to gather dust!

I painted some 13@rts glitter paint on to the flowers to give a bit of bling.  Thanks Emilia ♥

I also distressed the pale pink organza ribbon with my heat tool, love how well this works.

The lace is from Noor Design.  The frame is a Tim Holtz die and the leaves are a Magnolia die.

Wee Poppy for Maja Design

Back with card 2 for my Maja Design GDT spot, and for this card I’ve used their exquisite Vintage Romance Collection.  I used Passion, She’s My Lady and Just You & Me papers.

I went with a bit of stamping and colouring this time because ….. Poppy from Whimsy Stamps, new out this month. I also used the In Stitches stamp set and randomly stamped some stitching around the edges of the papers.  The sentiment is from the Flight of the Butterflies stamp set.

The little bead thingyamibobs are Artquest Mini Prills, they’re darn pricey for what they are and you don’t get very much either (like a couple of teaspoons for £5+ not very much!!)

I coloured Poppy with copic markers.  I also stamped some lavender from the new Lovely Lavender stamp set (also Whimsy).  How neat are they!?!  This stamp set is going to be super useful, especially that chicken wire stamp which I have used on the card I will be posting next week.

Skin: E13, 11, 00, 000, R20
Hair: E55, 53, 51, 50
Clothes/Flowers: RV95, 93, 91
Toadstool: E43, 42, 41, 40
Ladybird: W5, 3, 1, 00, 000; R20: C9, 7; R46, 35

And all finished with some flowers, twine and a clock charm.

My Dear Friend

A quick and easy card from me today, repurposing the Shaker Builder Sweetest Birthday die set from Whimsy Stamps.  I love that I can use this die to add an extra layer to my card without losing the detail.

The paper is Alice’s Dreams, love this paper collection so hard!

The tag was in the paper collection, I just distressed the edges then popped a sentiment on top for a bit more dimension.  I’m not sure where I got the clock charm from, I think I picked it up at a craft show a while back.

I distressed the organza ribbon again with a heat tool, I love this technique, and finished off with the usual flowers and twine.

Back Monday with another of my Maja Design GDT cards.

Happy Wishes for Maja Design

I’m doing a guest designer spot for Maja Design over on the Maja Design Blog this month, and this is the first of the cards I’ve made using their gorgeous papers.  I used the Coffee in the Arbor collection – perfect for a pretty shabby chic card. The papers used on this card are Raspberry Jam Cookies, Raspberry Cupcake and Raspberry Lemonade.

I used the fab-u-las Butterflies stencil by Whimsy Stamps yep, they’re doing stencils now!   I used white embossing paste and before it dried I sprinkled some Distress Glitter onto the butterflies for a pop of the old bling.  I also stamped around the edges of the cream layer with the new In Stitches stamps (also Whimsy, natch) using Walnut Stain ink.

And more new Whimsy goodies that I just had to use … The butterfly is from the Flight of the Butterflies stamp set, I used that amazing Happy Sayings stamp set and matching Happy Sayings Die Set because … my favourite die and stamp set ever … and I also used the Honeycomb Pattern die which I popped under the first layer.

Finished off with crinkled organza ribbon, twine and the obligatory flowers.

Have a great week.

Happy Wishes

This month, Whimsy are releasing the following new stamps and dies:
4 new stamps from Crissy Armstrong
3 new stamps from Lee Holland
2 new stamps from Wee Stamps
2 new stamps from Krista Heij-Barber
3 new stamps from Kirsten Winkelbauer
and finally - 6 new clear stamps and 2 new dies and 1 stencil
All the new products are available to purchase from the Whimsy Stamps shop

After a lot of deliberation (because amazing release images!) I went with this adorable Mouse with Rose and and and …. did you SEE that sentiment?!?!  It’s the Happy Sayings Die Set and accompanying Happy Sayings stamp set.  Eeek, I am so in love with it.  The set comprises of two sentiment dies, one round and one square and there’s a matching set of stamps that go with it, and the stamps cover pretty much every occasion you would need a sentiment for.  The dies cut beautifully and I didn’t even need to use waxed paper either.  I used my mini Misti to align the sentiment but also stamped without using the Misti and got a perfect stamped impression every time.  I’m SO gonna wear this die and stamp set out!

bev rochester whimsy mouse with rose

I coloured this little cutie up with copic markers and a few pencils:
Mouse: C3, 1, 0, 00; R20, 00, 0000 and black pencil
Rose: G46, 43, 40 and olive green pencil; R85, 83, 81, RV0000 and mahoany red pencil

I matted the sentiment die cut onto pale pink card to give it a bit of a pop.  I {Heart} this set so hard.

I used Maja Design Vintage Romance papers, so pretty.

The January 2017 release party  has started over in the Whimsy Stamps and Inspirations Facebook group. You can join in for games, fun, and a chance to win Whimsy prizes too. Here is the link to the party event.  To join the release party event, just pop over to the Whimsy group any time between January 11-13, this Wednesday through Friday.

Fresh Rose

I don’t think I’ve been so excited about digital papers ever, until this months Whimsy Stamps digital release. So, so pretty.  I eventually settled on the Fresh Rose kit (I was like a kid in a sweetie shop trying to chose, I tell ya!).  The sentiment is also from this new digital release – from the Lovely Sentiments set.

I popped a Scrapiniec chipboard border from Noor Design under the flowers.  I scaled up the sentiment a little to fit the space.  That’s what I love about digital sentiments, you’re not restricted to size.  I did this in Word – no fancy photo editing software was used.

I used a Tattered Lace die set for the card shape, printed the digi papers onto pearlescent paper (gorgeous!) and layered it all up.  So quick and easy and really effective.  I love how the wood grain worked so well with the shape.

I’m so happy with how this one turned out, I can see me making a lot more shaped cards.

Because you’re special

Happy New Year!  I hope 2017 brings you all you wish for.
Shoo!  This has been such a busy time, I’ve had this card made for a couple of weeks but never got round to doing a blog post till now.

I used the Whimsy Stamps Card Builder Many Thanks Die Set for the top layer, love those cute little hearts all the way round the border.  The banner tag is also from the set.  I think die set is this geared for US cards due to the size, but it works perfect with my usual 6 x 6 cards, as it allows me to layer up different papers and bring in different tones and colours.

The sentiment is from the Handmade Letter Seals stamp set which is half price right now – hurry!

I curved the banner and just glued down each end so I could get some depth to the sentiment.

The cameo worked so well with the colours of the paper and tulle trim.
