Morning all, I’m dropping in with a super quick card that I made on the weekend, using another of the fabulous Shape Art templates from Noor Design.  The oval is new, from the latest release.  The sentiment is from the Baby Paper Art (also released this month).  I think the word is just so perfect for the picture.

Before removing the die cuts from the dies, I inked it up with Spiced Marmalade distress ink.

These little dies are just the right size to pop in amongst the flowers.

Flowers from Wild Orchid CraftsChrysanthemums, sweetheart blossoms, open roses, wild roses.

Joy, Peace, Hope

I’ve been playing with some mixed media again, man I’m loving getting messy! Apologies that the photo is a bit skew-whiff, the project is rather large so I struggled to get it all in one shot (and straight too lol).  Hopefully I’ve done the post right so clicking on the photos should open them up larger for easier viewing.

This is another of those fabulous MDF sets from Noor Design.  I love how they take the paint and inks.

Right, so on to the close ups.  The sentiments are from a chipboard set I found in my stash, I can’t even remember buying them so have no idea where I got them from or how long I have had them.  Buried under all the flowers is a plastic snowflake ornament, and under that is the texture given by embossing with a snowflake stencil and also some die cut doilies (links at the end of the post).  I also added some metal snowflake charms for extra texture and can’t forget the angel wings (top right).  That mould I got off eBay is going to be one of my best purchases ever I think.  Once I had inked and sprayed I went around the edges, on the bells and also the angel wings with silver wax (Inka Gold by Viva).  The mini cones I picked up whilst out walking my doggies, just gave them a couple of coats of gesso same as the flowers.  I also blinged up the flowers and cones with Distress Glitter, don’t think it’s showing up very well though.

The inks are a mix of Lindy’s Stamp Gang, Tattered Angels and my own mix using distress re-inkers and mica pearls (these worked a treat)

I joined the hearts using little mini album rings – that was a eureka moment I can tell you lol.

The middle heart.  Again I used one of those snowflake tree ornaments under the flowers.

No room on the little heart for the snowflake ornament, it would have swamped it.

I think you can see the wings on the top heart better in this shot.

I can safely say that I am addicted to Mixed Media Open-mouthed smile

Here’s a vintage Christmas plaque I made on the weekend using one of the new Essential Oval MDF plaques from Noor Design.  These are such great value for money and are a fab size too.
I made the flower using co-ordinating paper cut from a Tim Holtz die.
A chipboard bird, some die cut letters, bells, string, texture by using embossing paste and a Mask Art Ice Stars stencil (also from Noor) , lots of bling and job done.  You can see the stencil work quite nicely in the picture below.

Sweet Baby Boy

I LOVE these card templates from Noor Design, they make shaped cards a total breeze.

The paper is Graphic 45.  Love the peach and aqua together (yep – I’m still on the aqua train lol)

The sentiment started life out as white from the Paper Art Baby Sheet, I coloured it up with BG53 copic pen and endged with pumice stone ink to make it pop off the dotty paper

The sweet dummy and button is also from this month’s new release from Noor, as is the little daisies and .,.. did you check out those leaves!  OMG my new favourite die for sure, it’s part of the daisies set.  I am SO gonna wear this die out for sure Smile

I coloured the dummy and button with distress inks after painting with a coat of gesso.

I really love how this turned out – it makes for something so different and looks like it took ages to make … it SO didn’t.  My kind of card Smile

Daylight Lamp review and a give away

A lot of you know I work full time so tend to do my crafting at night.  A few years ago that was a doddle, but as this old lady is getting older (shhh) I am finding it more and more difficult to do close work at night.  I already have a Swan Table Lamp that is in constant use, even during the day but jumped at the opportunity to review the MAG Lamp.  And …. it’s the Best. Lamp. Ever.  No joke!  How I ever managed to colour without it I don’t know.
The photos are taken at night which is when the lamp is most in use, and yes my trusty Swan Lamp is also in use in the background.
Only one teeny tiny problem …. the magnification is just that good it shows up all the imperfections ha!  Joking aside, this lamp is fabulous.  Comparing the magnified part of the marker to the end sticking out the side you can easily see just how brilliant the magnification is.
I love that I can push the lamp out of the way when it’s not in use, yet because of the flexible arm I can manoeuvre this baby to the exact spot that I need it.  The diameter of the lamp head casing is 8” so it’s not that big that it gets in the way when I’m colouring.
The glass area (5”) is just the perfect size too, I can easily see what I am doing when colouring even with my hand in the way
And job’s a good’un.  The finished image coloured with markers and pencils.

This giveaway is now closed
And as a reward for bearing with me, if you would like to be in the draw for this little Yo-Yo LED lamp with magnification (perfect for your crafting away days) leave a comment and I will draw a winner during the week. I will post this worldwide so this is open to all.
Please note the lamp that I am giving away is NOT the lamp that I have reviewed.

Summer Berry Gift Set

I had a play with some new DT goodies from Noor! Design.  This cute little milk carton template makes gift boxes a doddle.

I used the delish Summer Berry papers for the set, the colours are just so pretty.  Out came the lady bugs again lol.  I LOVE the leaves from the new strawberry die set, they are the perfect size to slip in behind flowers.

And the sweet little milk carton.  This was so quick and easy to make.  The sentiment stamps are from an Anna Griffin set that I got from QVC a couple of years ago.

I had a play with some mixed media during the week, and had a total blast.  I was a bit intimidated at first, me no likey a mess!  So it’s still very neat and Bev-like, but that’s as messy as I get.

I started off with a round mdf plaque which I coated in gesso, then added some dry wall tape in patches and also did some stencilling for extra texture.  I die cut some doilies but then went and mostly covered them up.  I painted all the embellishments, including the flowers, with white gesso before sticking them in place with hot glue.  I misted with Lindy’s Stamp Gang Nantucket Pearls (OMG this set is beyond sublime!!).  THEN …… I decide it needs something else so attack it with stamps.  Eek, this terrified the life out of me I can tell you.  But I’m so glad I braved it, it really did add that little extra sumthin’ that it needed.

LOVE those wings!!  I bought a mould off eBay for a couple of quid and used Martha Stewart clay.  Once dry I coated with gesso then when stuck in place and the misting was done I went over them (and the little clock, cherub, key and heart buttons) with twinkling H2O’s and gold acrylic paint

The DREAM sentiment is a die – I die cut it four times, glued together then coated in gesso.  It looks just like a chipboard sentiment – well impressed Smile

Totally love the colours – so soft and pretty.

I really really loved playing making this little plaque, I think I’m addicted to mixed media now

Another Sarah Kay card today, and no pink in sight!!  I’m back on the aqua wagon again – I just lurve this colour combined with kraft.

The sky was done used the super fab Clouds Art Mask (links below).  Before I coloured the image I used a brush and Broken Glass Distress Ink to quickly fill in the blanks on the mask and voila!!  Clouds!  How cool is that?!?

I’ve used my favourite flower – a magnolia.  These are just sublime.  I painted the white flowers with gesso to whiten them a bit more.

I popped a venise applique lace heart behind the image

This little clip has been in my stash since I first started making cards years and years ago.  It was in a kit I got from QVC – THAT’S how old it is lol.  The alphabet stickers are by Tim Holtz.  Fab value for money, there are loads and loads of sheets for £2.  I love a bargain!

The key started life as a dark, grungy brown.  A coat of Inka Gold Platinum and I got this.  Man I love that stuff

Sarah Kay

Love my Sarah Kay stamps as much as I did when I first started stamping, if not more.

I fussy cut around her so I could pop her on the Noor! heart.  I coloured her with copics:
Hair: E27, 21, 50
Skin: E11,00,000, R20
Dress: R85, 83, 81, RV000; YR31, 30
Dog: C5, 3, 1, 0

I heat embossed the clear stamp image with white EP on grey card, then popped on some alphabet stickers.  Lots of floral deliciousness here too

And a (sort of) peek at the inside – note I still haven’t got the new camera sussed yet.  It’s way too technical for me, and by the time I'm finished taking photos the air is blue and the camera is under dire threat of going in the bin!  Moral of the story - don't let him buy a camera that is so expensive/uber technical that you need a degree (or in my case a brain transplant) to understand how to work it.  He is so not my friend lol.

Wild Orchid Crafts products used:
Mixed pink cottage roses QVR-043
Mixed pink open roses MKX-661
White open roses MKX-013
White rose buds 8mm GST-003
Mixed pink and white lilies MKX-604
The pearl heart in the top corner and the lace is also from WOC, unfortunately I can’t see it in the shop so can’t add the code.

Here comes summer

This month’s Noor! Design challenge is “Here comes summer” and I don’t think you can get any more summery than these super cool flip flops.

I love the papers in the Botanical Paper pad, so pretty.  I got a bit carried away with the whole summer theme and added an ice cream cone (complete with one orange Flake ha!).  I stencilled on FUN then once dry added more texture paste to give it a whipped cream look then added 100’s and 1000’s (okay … rhinestones lol)

I heat embossed the camera and sunglasses which is from the Holiday Paper Art sheet using Aged Silver Frantage.  Once this was done I popped a small piece of black card behind each to add some oomph.
