A little bit shabby

I made this card during the week in-between sorting out my craft room (yep .... STILL!)   No colouring so really quick and easy to do.

Aqua is my flavour of the month, everything I've created this week has been done with aqua in mind.  I painted the cut outs with white gesso then shimmer mist in pale pink and green.

Wild Orchid Crafts products used:

Mixed pastel magnolias QVR-029
Off white chrysanthemums MKX-117
Mixed pastel tulips MKX-212

The lace is also from WOC, unfortunately I can’t see it in the shop so can’t add the code.

Mini Album

Part of my DT kit from Noor! Design was this mini album.  Not having attempted anything like this before, my instant reaction was what on earth was I going to do with it.  I pondered, and decided to try doing a baby album for my friend who waited so darn long for her first grandbaby.  Hope you like it Karen.

The front, which I left plain as there was so many ribbons going on.  Why so many ribbons you ask??  Well B.O.B. (Brains of Britain) Bev here overloaded on the embellies on the inner pages so once it was done the rings that are supplied with the album weren't going to be big enough.  I ordered larger rings and even they didn't fit.  So note to self - CHECK that it all fits before glueing stuff down Bev!!

The first of the inside pages, left side just holds a little tag for Karen to write one of her awesome poems on for Hayden.

I just love this new viewfinder die from Noor.  I backed it with the patterned paper then added some alphabet stickers and finished off with a little bear button from my stash.

The trellis border was the left overs from the fleur-de-lys shapes on the front and back of the album.

I LOVE how the stencilled word Adore turned out.  It was a bit of a pain to do because I did it one letter at a time, allowing each letter to dry before doing the next one, but I think it was worth the effort :).  The wire baby word is out of my mountain of baby stash (you would not believe how much baby stuff I have - a whole cupboard is dedicated to those puppies lol)

And the back, I used the circle and teddy to conceal where I adhered the ribbon to tie the album closed.

I really really loved playing with this, it took me quite a while to do and I loved every second of it.

Afternoon Tea

Please scroll down to enter the candy give-away

A quick retro(ish) card today using the Afternoon Tea picture pad from Noor! Design

Love this new edge die which I inked up with distress ink before removing the die cut from the die.  The corners are from the 0416 – 12 point square with corners die.

How cute is the fork and spoon?!  I used some mirri card for these.

I’m off work this week, still clearing out my craft room.  I seriously have issues with buying stuff then squirreling it away never to see the light of day again!

Products from Wild Orchid Crafts :
40mm trellis rose
25mm wild rose
15mm and 10mm baby pink open roses
White cosmos daisy

Winner redraw and more candy–a butterfly die this time

This candy is now closed

As the winner of the Nautical Stamps candy has not come forward I have done another draw, and the winner is
Carole Pollard
Carole, please email me your address so I can post these off to you.
And for this week’s candy (sorry it;s so late), I have a 3 piece butterfly die set from Go-Kreate.  Apologies for the size of the picture, but it’s way too late to get a half decent photo now.  The butterfly measures 3” x 2.5” so is a good size.  I will draw a winner mid-week.

Happy travels

I love this little Dutch Doobadoo suitcase stencil.  Actually, I love working with those stencils period.  So super quick and easy to use and fabulous results each time

I used some old Melissa Frances papers for this, added lots of gesso and Wild Orchid Crafts flowers and job done

The little buckles are from a Spellbinders set.

Wee Dolly for May Whimsy Release

Welcome to Day 2 of our May Rubber Stamp and Die Release

Over the next 3 days we will reveal 18*BRAND NEW* red rubber stamps/stamp sets and 3 BRAND NEW Die Sets. They will be available to buy from the Whimsy Stamps store and from selected Whimsy Stamps retailers on Wednesday.

Today we are excited to show you the brand new Art by Mi Ran and Krista Heij-Barber, Wee Stamps, Meljen Designs stamps.

My card today features Wee Dolly, how stinkin’ CUTE is this little sweetie?!?

The sentiment is from the Frame of Thanks set, and I matted this on to the mini picture frame die.  The butterflies peeking out are from the butterfly border die.

Sorry I don’t have any close ups of the coloured image, I am having such problems with my camera.  I had an old Fuji Finepix S7000 from the year dot that photographed like a dream.  Sadly it died on me last year and despite two new cameras I just can’t get the picture quality my old Fuji gave me.  The new Nikon nearly went out the living room window yesterday afternoon.  Ugh, why do they make them so fancy that you need a degree just to switch them on?  Anyway, enough moaning from me, on to the important bit ….. the prizes!!

PRIZE ALERT ... We have hidden a fabulous prize of a $15 GIFT CERTIFICATE at one of the stops on today’s hop! We will draw the lucky winner from the comments left here and on today’s design team posts (listed below), so be sure to visit everyone and leave a comment at every stop to be entered into the draw.

Feathered Friend

Something different today, I’ve used one of the new Shape Art templates from Noor! Design for my card. Do you remember those Bookatrix boards we all went crazy for years ago?  Geez I wore mine out lol.  This new template is so much quicker and easier to use that’s for sure.

The paper is one sided so I inked the corner backs before distressing and curling them.  I didn’t glitter the edges until the page was adhered in place.

LOVE this gorgeous butterfly which is from the Open Heart die.  It’s a good size and looks so pretty doubled up and finished off with pearls.  The wild curly rose started it’s life out white, so I spritzed it with diluted peach re-inker to get the colour to match the rest of the roses.

And my little feathered friend.  I was a bit worried that using an oval die would lose some of the detail of the picture, but actually I think it enhances the little robin.

I’ll be back in a couple of days with yet more candy Smile

Something different from me today, and not a card in sight.  When I saw the Beach Huts from the new Noor! Design release I knew exactly what I wanted to do, and this is the first of the huts that I have changed into a Welcome sign.

I used the new Mask Art Grunge stencil to give some texture, then rubbed over the raised pattern with metallic wax to give more definition

All the embellishments are from Wild Orchid Crafts, links at the end of the post

Summer Sweetness

I am so fed up with all this rain, I needed a summery pick me up and what better than Little Sun Kissed Summer Sweetness from Whimsy Stamps?  Bright and cheerful with a touch of vintage.  I’ve had these papers for a while now and wasn’t feeling them ….. till I started pulling out delish flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts and I was set.

Coloured with copic markers, I used:

Skin – E11, 00, 000, 0000 R20
Hair – E55, 53, 51, 50
Turquoise - BG15, 13, 11, 10
Red - R35, 24, 14
Watermelon - G45, 43, 20; R24, 22, 20
Stool: E79, 74, 70
Kitten – C5, 3, 1, 0

I gave the seam binding a good old scrunch to add to the vintage feel.  The pearl brad I picked up at Hobbycraft, 12 for £2 (I think) – a bargain for sure.  The key I got from Ebay, I bought like a hundred of them ….. what I’m going to do with that many is anyone’s guess lol.

And the goodies from WOC that I used are:

Mixed pastel magnolias QVR-029
White wild roses (30mm) QVR-014
White open roses 10mm MKX-013
Mixed red & white sweetheart blossoms MKX-638
Mixed pastel apple blossoms MKX-469
White rose buds 8mm GST-003
Mixed blue/aqua self adhesive pearls MKX-320
