Anything Goes for WOC

A nice easy challenge to close out the year at Wild Orchid Challenge – Anything Goes.

I have used the newest Nitwit Collections kit – Christmas Linen.  It’s absolutely gorgeous, the papers, the sentiments, the tags, the lot!  I printed off one of the star sentiments, I love these!

The image is one of the many I coloured for to be printed onto sheets, so I didn’t really cheat as I coloured the original Winking smile

Wild Orchid Crafts products used – Roses – 40mm, 20mm, 15mm and 10mm, lilies, spiral stamens, pearls and lace.

10 minute cards

I’m back (again lol).  This past two weeks has been a bit manic with Tony being so very poorly after his surgery.  He is on the mend slowly, but this surgery was so not a walk in the park like the hip replacement was.  So, yesterday I managed to grab a few hours to get some cards done.  I desperately needed some quick cards making and this is one of them.  I got 6 made in under an hour once I got the production line set up Smile

I used a Tim Holtz Tattered Poinsettia die to die cut some pearlescent vellum, edged the petals with gold Stickles and once dry assembled using a gold spacer and brad.  I coloured the leaves (cut from the same vellum) with Archival Ink.

The gorgeous Gold Glitter Mesh is from the Ribbon GirlI finished off with some die cut flourishes, pearls abd a rub-on sentiment

Another (wonky) look at the card.  Where I usually photograph my cards is choc full of presents so I had to balance this on the kitchen bench and wedge in the lights to get these photo’s lol

Back tomorrow with my WOC challenge card.

Wild Orchid Challenge

This has been a manic few days – I have been dashing around like a loon and only managed to get this card finished late last night.  I can’t wait for Tony to come home – this dashing backwards and forwards to the hospital is no joke.

This week’s Wild Orchid Challenge is Photo Inspiration/Colour Challenge

red 9 dec

And here’s what I came up with.  I decided to go with an easel card as I have not made one for yonks.

The image is Pammy’s Stocking from Mo Manning and has been coloured with copic markers and pencils

The flowers and seam binding are from Wild Orchid Crafts.  I used 40mm wild rose, lilies and 15mm roses.

A closer look at the front

And that’s it from me, I am dashing off to work.  Have a great week

Anything goes at The Ribbon Girl

It’s the last Ribbon Girl Challenge for 2013 so they have made it nice and easy with anything goes.  I have used one of the new Whimsy Stamps images, this is Sugarberry Bliss and she has been coloured with distress inks.

The papers are Papermania First Noel.  I wrapped the rusty primitive star with natural button twine  and popped a rub-on sentiment in the centre.

I was in a rustic mood when I made this card so also used some natural faux hessian instead of ribbon or lace and added a couple of rusty jingly bells.

A closer look at Sugarberry

The flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts – I used a wild rose, cherry blossoms, 15mm roses

I have a card ready for tomorrow – woo get me, two cards on the trot lol.  A big thanks for all the get well wishes for my Tony, he had the surgery on Friday and that went really well.  However he was really poorly after the surgery and the pain has been incredible.  But … typical bloke … the lay there in agony and didn’t tell them that the morphine was not working!!  He’s off that now and on different pain meds and when I spoke to him this morning he said he felt much better.  Men!!!

Christmas Angel

Phew!  I’ve been so busy getting stuff done before my hubby has his knee replacement surgery on Friday I even forgot to blog this card.  I made it a few weeks ago and only got round to photographing it tonight – hence the poo photos!

I had a go at colouring this Saturated Canary Christmas Angel digi with distress inks for a change.

Lace and flowers all from Wild Orchid Crafts.  I used large trellis rose, tea roses, 15mm roses and small orchids.

Lots of snowflakes

Phew, two cards on the trot!  I worked my little fingers off this weekend lol.  It’s time for a new Wild Orchid Challenge and this week it’s Snowflakes.  I so love nice and easy challenges especially at this time of the year when we are all frantic trying to fit everything in before the bloke in the red suit drops down our chimneys (if only it was that simple HA!)

So, I have used another of those gorgeous Whimsy stamps from the last release, the new one starts off with sneak peeks this afternoon.  This stamp is one drawn by the uber talented Sylvia Zet and is called Friendship is the greatest gift. Love it!

I have used the newest kit from Nitwit CollectionsFestive Trimmings, and it is fab-u-lous!  I used two of the papers and also printed off the little heart that I have stuck the sentiment over as well as the fab sentiment inside and the little candy cane.  This kit is just chocabloc with all this sweet and tasty.

The lace, divine twine and flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts.  Flowers used are Cottage Rose, 20mm roses, 15mm roses, 10mm roses.

The usual copics and pencils were used

Graph’it Markers

I was sent some of these Graph’it markers whilst I was poorly and I have only just this past week had a play with them.

I dug out the Whimsy Vintage Christmas stamp set, I just adore it!  Gorgeous vintagey images and sentiments.  Now then, more on the markers:

I am a Copic fan, I make no secret of that but I really like these Graph’it markers.  The colour lays down beautifully with very little blending needed – so no overworking hence no bleeding.  When using bold colours that can be a problem so although the bullet nib had plenty of ink to get a fantastic blend I didn’t struggle to achieve this.

I didn’t have to use pencils to “pop” the colour, the image was coloured solely with Graph’it markers and to be honest I don’t think I even needed to use the pencils.

I am not keen on a bullet nib, I prefer the softness of a brush tip so was thrilled to see that the nibs can be interchanged with brush nibs (which I will be doing).

I have not got the full range of colours and usually would have used 4-5 reds to achieve this look if I was using Copics.  However, I only used 3 colours which I lay on the Mix’it palette and picked the colour off there when I needed to blend.  I did start off by laying the colour on to the paper (dark to light as always) then made use of the palette where needed.  Brilliant!

Reds: 5280, 5250, 4135
Greens: 8160, 8240
Gold: 1250, 1110
Grey for shadows: 9203 and the blender

Little Lemon Pepper

I had a mooch through my Whimsy Stamps box and pulled Lemon Pepper out to have a play.  It’s been ages since I made a criss cross card so added that to the mix.

And whilst I was in the mood for playing …. out came the distress inks for colouring

I decided to use up some of the Echo Park paper for the insert and went with two separate tags instead of the usual one insert that I make.

The gorgeous fluted edge sheer ribbon is from The Ribbon GirlThe flowers and flower shaped pearls are from Wild Orchid Crafts.  Flowers used are Classic Rose, 20mm roses and 15mm roses.
