Texting and some commenters candy

I am skiving off work today (legit with a day’s holiday lol) as I have a class to prep for on Saturday and yep I have left it till the last minute again.  But I got another magazine commission done and dusted last night so I am a happy bunny, especially as I am a week early … for a change, (but still got another to go so best stop crowing about it and get me skates on).

So today I have another one of those magazine cards, I had to do a set of 3 teenager cards (is it just me or are they as difficult to make as mens cards???)  Good old DCWV Linen Closet to the rescue.  The image is Texting by Gillian Roberts for Stampavie.  I have used this stamp so many times for teenager cards and each time it is so well received.

The scrabble tiles were a gift from the lovely Pops, thanks sweets x.  The flowers were made by gathering up some scraps of seam binding then fixing a button in the centre – easy peasy and not too fussy either.

The image was coloured with Promarkers and Copics (they work really well together)  but it was so long ago I honestly have no idea what colours I used – I think I made this set of cards in Feb/March.  I thought I had written them in me little black book but can I heck as like find the list, sorry.

And now for some commenters candy (whilst I remember).  The set of stamps I am giving away I battled for ages to get then when they eventually arrived guess what I found, the other set I had bought months before.  I have a problem ….. a serious problem lol.  So these stamps are brand new, never out the packet and go out of stock faster than they come in.

From the comments left yesterday my grandson took great pleasure in writing all the names down, folding up all the bits of paper (he is majorly into paper folding but that’s a tale for another day lol) and pull out …….

Christmas Bears – Sledge Sneak Peek

I’ve another sneak peek today, this little poppet is called Christmas Bears – Sledge and is from the second Christmas release from Lili of the Valley.  I just love the detail in these stamps, those little robins are too cute!

Jacqui and I have been beavering away behind the scenes for a while now colouring in all the images for advertising and the colour scheme this time is icy colours so these Bo Bunny Winter Joy papers fitted in with the pre-coloured image perfectly.  I always make the card first then colour my image so everything matches (yes I am positively anal about colours matching lol) so find it difficult to work the other way round.  So for this batch of colouring I actually picked the papers I was going to use for each image as I coloured them so when it came to making up the card it was all planned out.  It’s saved a lot of time doing it this way – note to self, remember to do this every time Bev.

I added Liquid Applique to the trees for snow and whilst still wet I poured some glitter over then blasted with a heat gun so the glitter set in to the puffy stuff as it swelled and dried.

The icicle border was punched with a Martha Stewart punch then slathered in Stickles and glamour dust for added bling.

And a close up of the flowers that were featured on yesterday’s Quick Flicks on the  Ideas to Inspire blog.  I love how the Twinklets (from Crafts U Love) totally transform a simple mulberry poinsettia flower especially when those gorgeous moonstone brads are added into the mix.

Back to work today {sulk}, would much rather be at home playing lol.  Have a great week.

Wild Orchid Crafts Challenge and a Quick Flicks

Another whole day off work yeahhhh, I just love bank holiday weekends :)  The challenge this time at Wild Orchid Challenge is Tags, Tags, Tags.  Now I have to fess up – I forgot to make a card for the challenge!!  But good old magazine cards came to the rescue (now I know why I beaver away months ahead of time lol, they have helped me out of a good few scrapes this past couple of months lol).

The tag is hidden behind the image, not something I have tried before and really liked the idea after seeing it on so many blogs and well you know, monkey see …. monkey do lol.  The sentiment on the tag is from Lili of the Valley’s Clear Additions sentiments.

The stamp is a Sarah Kay for StampavieFinn whistling while he works.   The papers are Fancy Pants Like Father Like Son, the stars are a Quickutz die and the punched border is a Martha Stewart Zig Zag punch.  The buttons and Divine Twine are from Wild Orchid Crafts

I have another Quick Flicks video up on the Ideas to Inspire blog and will be on my Video Tutorials page later today.

Simon Says Stamp Candy Winner

This week’s winner of Simon Says Stamp Magnolia candy is

Congratulations Sue, please email me to claim your Hawaii Tilda stamp (please put Hawaii Tilda in the subject line)

Bird Table

Another sneak peek for you today, this little cutie is from the new Christmas release from Lili of the Valley and is called Christmas Bears Bird Table.  Loving those tiny little stockings lol.

Instead of a shaped card I used the XXL Frilly Frames 6 to make an envelope effect then layered the gorgeous Nitwit Collections Joyful Hearts papers on.

The filigree star die is by Marianne Design, this die is so ornate and cuts perfectly!  I slathered it in stickles for some bling, then added 20mm roses and 10mm roses and a snowflake charm from the mixed metal embellishments (all from Wild Orchid Crafts ) on to finish it off.  I coated the roses with Glossy Accents then dunked them in Twinklets (from Crafts U Love) and Glamour Dust (also from Crafts U Love).

The sentiment is from an old HOTP set from QVC stamped on to a little die cut tag (thanks sweets mwah xx)

Right I am off to get tomorrow’s Quick Flicks video made then heading off out to a housewarming party where oodles of curry and a bit of the old rose is on offer lol.  Enjoy your day.

Lili of the Valley Christmas release take 2 sneak peek

Well, if ya loved the first Christmas release from Lili of the Valley you are going to love this one just as much – a good mix of different stamps which are all so gorgeous!  They are going to be released the first week in September so not long to wait and loads of sneak peeks being shared by the DT between now and release day too so do keep an eye on the Ideas to Inspire blog as we will be uploading our cards there.

Today I have used Angel Lute for my sneak peek, I just could not resist colouring her in.  I think she will be one of my most used Christmas stamps this year (IF I ever get round to making any to send that is lol).

The image has been coloured with ProMarkers and FlexMarkers (love these babies now lol)
Skin: Apricot, Oatmeal and blush
Hair: Terracotta, Vanilla, Antique White (FM)
Pinks: Baby Pink, Pale Pink, Muted Pink (FM)
Wings: Lemon Chiffon (FM) and blender
Lute: Shale, Cocoa, Ivory
Clouds: Cool Aqua, Soft Aqua (FM) and blender.
Start: Gold, Lemon
Holly: Holly, Meadow Green
Berries: Ruby

Glitter is Glamour Dust which has been applied with a glue pen

Nitwit Collections have a new digi kit out Pinky Swear, and although it is not a Christmas kit I had already decided to make the card in a pink and yellow colour combo and these papers were just so right for the card.  Aren’t the colours just so pretty?

And I used one of Frilly Frames from Go Kreate, this set is XXL Square Frame Frilly #10 but I cheated a bit this time lol.  I cut the entire shape out of a single piece of card so I would not lose the shape at the top as I would have done if I had cut it out straight on to a scored and folded card.  I then cut a scored and folded card with the same die and stuck the single die cut to the scored card and voila a shaped card that follows the shape all the way round :) I used one of the smaller dies in the set to cut the mat for the image to sit on, you can buy this shape in a smaller set if you don’t have an A4 die cutter or larger to cut the big dies - Frame Frilly #10.  The larger dies in the sets will need to be cut on an A4 Cutter like a Grand Calibur, I have a Big Shot Pro and I LOVE that babe (okay not so much of a baby but a monster rather lol – it’s mahoosive and cuts anything and everything lol.)

I coated the poinsettias with Twinklets after pulling them apart.  Once they were dry(ish) I reassembled them with some flattened spacers and the stunning new Moonstone Brads from Wild Orchid Crafts which are now on the website woohoo! I finished the card off with some 15mm roses, 10mm roses, a snowflake charm from the mixed metal embellishments, some seam binding and lace.

Simon Says Stamp Saturday Surprise

Oh how I wish it was warm enough to walk about dressed like Hawaii Tilda – she’s this week’s give away from those lovely ladies at Simon Says Stamp

I will draw a winner on Sunday night, good luck!

TGIF and a long weekend too!  We may even get some work done in that craft studio this weekend as it’s come to a standstill, with Tony having to work so much overtime.  Fingers crossed for me then that he gets stuck in down there – at this rate I won’t be in this side of Christmas :(

So it’s Just Magnolia and hAnglar & sTanglar challenge day and this week Donalda is hosting and has set Bingo as the challenge.  We have two sponsors this week – Crafts U Love and The Ribbon Girl so two chances of winning a fab prize.

Those Grand Nesties got another airing again, I am loving round cards (got some more large dies on the way from Go Kreate so will be doing lots more shaped cards in the coming weeks.)

The Curly Wild Rose, 20mm roses,15mm roses and 10mm roses as well as the pearl stamens, pearls, padded gold butterfly and gorgeous silk ribbon is from Wild Orchid Crafts.

The Bingo line I went for is Flowers, Ribbon/Lace and Gems – so predictible lol.  I found this sheet of paper that I had printed off a while back, no idea which kit it is from so when I find it again I will update this post with the link to it.

The colours used to colour Tilda are Copics E13,11,00,000,R20 for the skin, E29, 25, 23, 50 for the hair, E43,42,41,40, R29,24,00 for the dress, shoes and flowers and YG63,61 for the leaves.

The sentiment is Whimsy Postage Stamp sentiments from Dies to Die For.  I used the matching die but when I tried to cut it out using the plastic measure/marker thingy I could not get it to work properly so what I found works best for me is to die cut the postage stamp shape then stick that with a small dab of sticky dots to a larger piece of card then stamp using the usual stamp positioner method and got the sentiment lined up perfect on the die cut.  Trying it the other way …… I would have been bald had I carried on lol, a real tear my hair out job.  I am so challenged when it comes to technical things and that was way too technical for me rofl.

I’ve popped this card in my Etsy shop

Have a fabulous weekend!  And keep an eye out on the LOTV DT’s blogs from Monday for some amazing sneak peeks :)

Lazy Afternoon and some commenters candy to give away

Boy did I ever struggle with this picture!  The star buttons are just not playing the game.  They are triple embossed and have a sentiment stamped on them but you will just have to believe me cuz no matter what I did they just don’t look right.  Don’t you just hate it when that happens?

This is a die cut from the Take it Easy sheet that I have used on today’s card (another magazine one done yonks ago).  But I enhanced the colouring and shading with Prismacolor pencils, I love how it turned out too so will be doing this a lot more.  The Grunge Letter stamp from LOTV Clear Additions stamps was stamped on some of the paper from the K & Co Flora and Fauna pad in Walnut distress ink.  The sentiment is also one of the Clear Additions stamps.

I think it’s time I gave away some more commenter’s candy as it has been a while and you are all so lovely for not only taking the time to visit but also to leave me comments, I really do appreciate them :)

So, from yesterdays comments my hubby picked out two names.

Myra from Myscardcorner and Trudy from Trudy’s Scrapkaarten can you please email me your addresses as I have a Stampavie stamp for each of you.

Jacque’s sweet stuff

Jacque is giving away some amazing sweet stuff to celebrate the best news I have heard in a loooong time.  Just check out this deliciousness!  And she posts worldwide too – so you really do need to pop across and check it out!

Sarah Kay

Yep it’s another of those magazine cards again, and I got to use one of my favourite stamps too :)  Fleur gathering flowers with Manon.  I just love the dreamy look on her face and I really didn’t need an excuse to use this stamp.

I made this card so long ago that I am not 100% sure of the paper but I think it is by Memory Box.  The Cheery Lynn heart dies, MFT Die-Namics dainty lace border die and papers are all from Dies to Die For.  The blooms and brads are from Wild Orchid Crafts.  The sentiment is by Fiskars I think.  Not much help here today am I??

Letraset FlexMarker Give away

Just a quick post to let you know that Letraset is giving away a full set of FlexMarkers on their facebook page so you really don't want to miss this!

Sarah in the snow

I’m back to work today and did NOT get much DT work done over the weekend, best laid plans and all that :(  Oh well I will have to get myself into some sort of routine (hard when the house is upside down).  I did manage to get a Christmas card done using one of the soon to be released Stampavie images, this cutie is called Sarah in the snow with kittie and is by Tina Wenke.  The sentiment is also from the new release, there is a whole host of Christmas sentiments coming out in this release.

I reached for my Grand circular nesties again, they are ideal for when you have a quick card to make.  The paper is from my scrap drawer left over from last Christmas or even the Christmas before.  I think it might have come from Craft Creations.  I coloured the image with my Promarkers, Flexmarkers and a touch of prismacolor pencil.  Colours used are:
Skin: Apricot, Oatmeal, Blush and Pale Pink for the cheeks
Hair: Black, Burnt Umber, Cinnamon
Reds: Crimson, Red
Aquas: Turquoise, Duck Egg, Aquamarine (FM)
Grey: Ice Grey 3,2,1

I also made the wee button using a scrap of the paper which I fixed to the seam binding bow with Divine Twine.  A poinsettia, 15mm roses, 8mm semi open roses and a 4mm rose buds and job done.

Quick Flicks video and a card

Gee don’t the weekends just whizz by!  I have taken a day’s holidya today to try and get caught up with some DT work, what’s the bet I waste hours on this computer lol.

I have my second Quick Flicks video done and posted on the LOTV Ideas to Inspire blog today – this one is showing how I arrange the flowers on my cards as requested by so many of you.  Hope it helps:)  I’ve added the video to my Video Tutorials page

This is the card I used for the video, using Hug Time from Lili of the Valley – an oldie and one that I had not got round to inking up.

The papers are Bo Bunny Sophie Bouquet and Chic from Dies to Die For.  The border punch is a Martha Stewart punch that a lovely lady sent me as a surprise – thanks sweets x

The flowers are all from Wild Orchid Crafts –45mm Wild Curly Rose, 25mm rose, cherry blossoms, tulips, aster daisies.  The pearls are also from WOC, the organza ribbon is from The Craft Fairy.

The sky was done with distress ink and an ink duster.  The image was coloured with copics and a black prismacolor pencil.  Colours used are E11, E00, E000, R20, V12, V000, V0000, R81, RV000, RV0000, YG63, G21, G24, BG99

Cupcakes, marshmallows and a winner

In that order!  Can’t put the cupcakes at the back of the queue lol.  As promised here’s a couple of pics of my baking marathon, I didn’t get the banana bread snapped as my family’s jaws snapped it up first!

Blueberry Cupcakes with Cream Cheese Frosting (recipe from The Hummingbird Bakery cookery book  LOVE their books, every recipe is delish).  The recipe can be found here.  The girls got the cupcakes with the Mexican Paste flowers on, the lads got the blueberries :)

And the marshmallows – the original recipe is for coffee marshmallows but I am not a coffee fan so leave that out and go for vanilla instead.  The chocolate coated ones went before I could even arrange them on the plate to photograph lol.  All that was left was the toasted coconut and the plain ones coated in icing sugar.  The recipe is from a John Tovey cookery book that I have had for absolute years, tried finding it on Google but no luck sorry.

And now after that yumminess this weeks Simon Says Stamp Saturday Surprise winner is

Shelly Schmidt

Congratulations Shelly, please email me to claim your prize – please put Tilda with Daisies in the subject line

A simple wedding card

I have another magazine card today, I got so involved with a few magazine commissions yesterday that I didn’t get a chance to get my card finished as the light had gone by the time I got round to being ready to shoot the Quick Flick for tomorrow so I am going to get that done this morning.  I also got some baking done yesterday – I’m becoming a regular little Domestic Goddess lol.  I made banana loaf (again as it’s my hubsters fave) and he also put in a request for blueberry cupcakes with cream cheese frosting, and whilst I was being the DG I whipped up a batch of marshmallows (some coated in toasted coconut and some coated in white chocolate) for my son as he missed out last week and had a reet hissy fit lol.  I might tempt you with some piccies later :)

So to my card (see I’m waffling again) – this was another of the set of 5 done for Cardmaking and Papercraft magazine’s commission for hand made buttons.

As the cards posted the other day the paper is from the K & Co Flora and Fauna pad from Dies to Die For.  That gorgeous heart is a Cheery Lynn Heart to Heart Lacy Doily die, the die cut borders are from the Spellbinders Fleur de Lis Accents  set.  The white 25mm organza ribbon, 20mm rose and 15mm roses as well as the pearls are all from Wild Orchid Crafts.  The sentiment accompanies the Lili of the Valley Together Forever stamp

To make the button I just stamped a “love” sentiment onto kraft card then cut out a heart shape, punched to 1/16th dia holes to thread the twine though, then triple embossed.

I’m off to scoff some marshmallows yum!
