Lili of the Valley Challenge – New Beginnings

For our last challenge of 2010 on Lili of the Valley Challenge we have a theme to follow – new beginnings.  This could be a new baby, new job, new school, new life together – wedding or engagement or any new event, new technique or even any new crafty stash.  I have gone with the wedding theme, new stamp, new Doo Hickey dies and a new technique (distressing the seam binding)

I have coloured the image “I Do” (which will be on sale on 11th January) with Copics:
Skin:  E21, E00, E000, R20
Wedding Dress: B000, B0000
Flowers: B23, B21, YG63, YG11
Groom’s Hair:  E29, E25, E35, E50
Bride’s Hair:  E33, E53, E50
Groom’s suit:  C9, C7, C5, C3, C1

The papers are Magnolia Something Old, Something New.  I decided I had stroked them for way too long!  The dies are all Magnolia Doo Hickey dies – Leaf and swirl, Tilda lace border and tag.

The pearls, guipure lace and flowers are all from Wild Orchid Crafts.  I used 15mm roses, 4mm rose buds, 25mm tea rose, 20mm rose

I cut out a heart, punched two holes in so it looked like a button then coated with Distress Crackle Paint, then once dry heat embossed with UTEE to give a high shine.  I distressed the seam binding (video to follow this weekend).

This card is available on Ebay along with a few others.

Hanglar & Stanglar Ladybug

I’ve a Hanglar card to share today, I love these stamps so much (okay so I’m not alone here then lol). I sat her on a Magnolia kitchen bench (another stamp that I have had for an absolute age and had never even opened the package it came in). The papers are Magnolia from last Christmas I think.

I distressed some seam binding, it was too much of a pinky red so I toned it down with a bit of distressing. If you would like a quick video on how I distress the stuff leave a comment and I will get one made. I stitched a button and a ladybug charm in place after distressing the “ribbon”. Good news, The Ribbon Girl will soon be stocking seam binding – watch this space. I buy mine in spools of 100 yards, a bit much if all you want is say 5 yards of a colour lol.

You can see in the picture above I distressed all the edges of the paper with a Tim Holtz distressing tool then ran some Walnut Stain distress ink around the edges then applied Diamond Stickles to bling it up a bit. The flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts, I used 25mm hybrid Tea Rose, 15mm roses, 8mm semi open roses, 4mm rose buds and cherry blossoms. The flourish die cut is a BossKut that I picked up from Ebay, and the dragonfly from the Magnolia Doo Hickey Dragonflies set.hanglar-ladybug-3

The sentiment is from Lili of the Valley, I can’t link to the actual stamp as the shop is closed for the holidays. I stamped around the image with a little stamp from the Stempelglede Grunge Hearts set.

The image has been stamped with Memento ink onto Lili of the Valley’s Super Smooth Stamping card then coloured Copics:-
Skin: E21, E00, E000, R20
Hair: E29, E25, E51
Clothes: R29, R27, R24, R22, C9, C7, C5, C3, C1, C0
Bench: E44, 42, E40

This card is on Ebay, along with a few others.

That’s it from me today, got some more magazine work to do and then tonight I am going out to see some friends (first time I have been out since Christmas eve – I have been avoiding the shops like the plague and have not even shopped in the sales online, hang on whilst I go polish my halo lol).

Some of my favourites in 2010

I’ve nothing ready to show today as I am beavering away on DT work and magazine commissions that I can’t show yet so I thought I would share some of my favourite cards that I made in 2010. I could not narrow it down to one each month so I’ve posted two (how’s that for indecisiveness lol).

I chose this card not only because I love the image but because it was for a very special lady who was battling cancer at that time

Thanks for taking a walk back through 2010 with me, I hope you will join in the fun and post your favourite cards from 2010.

Lili of the Valley sneak peek

I managed to get another sneak peek done yesterday.  Oh my word I am loving this new release and am having great difficulty in choosing which image to use first lol.

I have followed the fab sketch done by Claudia Rosa for Friday Sketchers.  They are having a blog hop this week with prizes on each DT members blog as well as on the challenge blog.

The image is called Together Forever and comes with the sentiment I have used on this card.  The stamps go on sale on 11th January, so not long now.
The papers are Laura Ashley (oldies that I found during a clear up yesterday).
The  die cut scroll is from the Magnolia DooHickey Leaf and Swirl set, and the gorgeous lacy border is a MFT Die-namics Faux Crochet Border die.
The flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts, 10mm roses, 15mm roses and 25mm Tea Roses.  The 25mm organza ribbon is also from WOC.
The image has been coloured with Copics -

Little Ellie

That’s Christmas done and dusted for another year, as I get older I wonder more and more what all the fuss is about (and the expense for that matter).  Okay so I got my bah humbug hat on again lol.

I have another one of the Ellie from Stamposaurus commissions to share today, I really do love this little elephant.

I found these sweet baby papers in my stash.  I think they are from a Forever Friends pad that I got a while back, but not 100% sure.  I used a Martha Stewart punch around the page set to frame the gingham paper.  It’s the Vintage Floral combo.  The scroll is a from the  Magnolia DooHickey Leaf and Swirl set.

The flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts8mm semi open roses, 15mm roses, 25mm tea rose.  Punched leaves looked too heavy for the card so I just twirled some of the waste wire from the flowers around a pokey tool then fixed in place with Crafters Pick Incredibly Tacky Glue (I use this glue to affix all my embellishments, even the gingham bow didn’t get missed lol.)  The lace is also from Wild Orchid Crafts as are the little pearl stamens.

The sentiment is from one of the Lili of the Valley circular sentiments sets.  Nothing escaped the Stickles treatment either (just love this stuff!).

Enjoy the rest of the holidays (if you are lucky enough to have time off work).

Simon Says Stamp Saturday (or not!) surprise

Have you all had a lovely day? Ours was so special, it’s just wonderful to see things through the eyes of children, and our Ben and Amy are just the right age to be in awe of all the proceedings bless.

I forgot to post the regular Simon Says Stamp candy this morning, just realised it now. So without any further ado, this week’s stamp up for grabs is Circus Tilda

If you would like to be in with a chance of winning all you need to do to enter the draw is leave a link to your blog (or your email address if you don't have a blog). There are NO silly requirements or rules, you do not need to be a follower or even blog about the candy if you don’t want to.

The winner will be announced on Monday evening along with the winner of my Christmas candy which, if you have not entered, you can find here, so good luck!

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas to you all, I hope you all have a wonderful, peaceful  Christmas with lots of lovely crafty gifts under the tree.

Birthday Fairy

One more sleep and still a mountain to do!  I wonder if my grandchildren will believe that Santa was too busy to wrap their present?  Nah I don’t think so lol – best get me skates on.

I have a card to share today that I made a couple of weeks back and forgot to post.  It’s the Lili of the Valley Birthday Fairy image that is going to be released early January.  I don’t know how they keep on coming up with one release better than then next.

I have not made an easel card for a while so a non Christmas easel card made a lovely change.  I hand cut a heart from thin chipboard and coated it with Distress Crackle Paint, edged it will milled lavender distress ink and Stickles then spritzed it with glimmer mist.  All that faff and you can hardly see it peeking out from behind the flowers.

Did a tag thingy for the inside, using a DooHickey die.

The papers are old old old Karen Neuberger that the lovely Kath sent me, still loving these papers sweetie.  The image has been coloured with a mix of Promarkers and Copics.  I am not keen on the Copic yellows but the Promarker ones are fabulous, a warm soft yellow and not garish like the Copics are at all.  The flowers are Wild Orchid Crafts as is the lace, the ticket sentiment is from Whimsy Stamps and the just for  you sentiment is from Simon Says Stamp.  And that gorgeous double satin ribbon is from The Ribbon Girl.

That’s it from me today, hope you all have a wonderful Christmas,
