Blue and Green for a Spoonful of Sugar and Stamp Something

miss-anya-topNow you all know that I'm the proverbial cow's tail right? Always at the back of the queue yeah? You with me so far? Well I decided I HAD to have the Miss Anya's stamps (yes set 1 and yes I know set 2 is soon to be released ... cow's tail remember....). Well I don't know about you but when I eventually make my mind up and decide I need something, I NEED IT NOW!! So imagine my disgust at not being able to get any Miss Anya stamps in the UK (couldn't wait that long for them to come from the US lol), then imagine my sheer delight when I discovered my Just Magnolia teamie Tab had a few sets for sale in her shop .. well the rest is history, those babies did a flying leap right into my basket and hung on for dear life in case I changed my mind again lol.

Phew, that was an epic!! So, anyhoo they arrived yesterday (only ordered them the day before) and I love them. I was worried about buying them cos so far I've only seen them coloured with Copics and PM's and I'm sad to say I own neither. But am really pleased with how well my beloved distress inks and Twinks worked with the image. So guess who is going to be at the front of the queue for set 2!! miss-anya-front

I love the crown charm, Jill at The Hobby House has them listed on the website now, isn't it just the perfect embellie for this cutie!! Oh and before I forget, this card is for ASOS challenge which is Blue and Green and also for Stamp Something which is Showers or Flowers. The flower is punched from SU Certainly Celery C/S then stamped with a Whiff of Joy swirl stamp with SU Brocade Blue ink.
miss-anya-charmThe inside is really plain and simple, the paper I used was only a small scrap and all I had left was this slither that I have stuck on the inside. Love the sentiment stamp, have had it ages and not had the right image to go with it, till 'lil Miss Anya came along. And if you’re still with me then thanks for reading all my drivvel lol. xx
Stamps: Miss Anya set one from Tabby Crafts , swirl stamp from Whiff of Joy Swirls and Sentiments set, sentiment from Butterfly Kisses (I can't believe I paid £5.50 for a single sentiment stamp gulp!!)
Papers: Are by MOD, but nothing else was on the back of the paper - its was only a scrap remember
Tools: Martha Stewart Valentines Lace border punch, circular punches, Stampin Up 5 Petal punch
Embellies: Ribbon from Hobbycraft, Prima flowers, spacers, brads, pearls and crown charm all from The Hobby House

This weeks Whiff of Joy challenge is a theme - stars and stripes. At first I was flummoxed (easy for me I know but there you go lol) as I've never made a "stars and stripes" themed card before. Thank goodness for good old Basic Grey - this card could not be more further from the stereotypical stars and stripes theme but it has stars ..... and it has stripes (okay so it has some circles too lol).
I've made this card for our Ben's 4th birthday towards the end of May, he just loves his "skooootah" so this card will really appeal to him. A few Sizzix stars and a few spare buttons and the card was done. Another view of the card.
The inside - same old same old I'm afraid, the layout on the front I've carried through to the inside.
Stamps: Whiff of Joy Oakley with Scooter, sentiments are from the Birthdays set of Scrappy Cat stamps from Hobbycraft
Papers: Basic Grey Granola
Tools: Martha Stewart Zigzag border punch, Sizzix stars die, Tim Holtz distressing tool
Embellies: Not much this time - a few buttons from my button box and a piece of Anita’s ribbon.

Pretty in purples and Lulubelle

Ismaki has a fab, easy sketch to follow this week and as I've not done one of their sketches for a while I thought I would do this one. The option is Violet - well these colours are as close as I could get to violet, it's not a colour I would use by choice yet love the colours on the card - I'm so contrary!!

I've used the last of these purple papers, really had to eke them out to have enough to use inside as well as on the front. I've tried my hand at flowersoft, not sure if I like it but too late now, it’s on and it’s stopping on. I only have one tub of it and it's all mixed colours so guess who sat here for ages picking out the pinks and purples - *ROLLS EYES!!!* You would think I had nothing better to do!!
More or less followed the sketch through to the inside of the card.
Stamp: Magnolia Tilda picking lilacs coloured with distress inks and H2O's
Papers: Papermania (I think)
Tools: Martha Stewart Double Dot punch, Nestibilities labels 4, Martha Stewart branch punch
Embellies: Prima Hydrangeas, spacers and tulle (all from The Hobby House), Roses from Wild Orchid Crafts

I found this picture of our Lulubelle in my files so thought I would share it with you.  She was bred by a very special lady (as was most of my dogs).  She’s such a sweet little girl, almost turns herself inside out to please you and wags her tail so hard she falls over sometimes!!

I received an award from Bea, thanks sweetie xxBlog_Award[4]
And one from Jamers, thanks hun xxAward5

Another two cards from me today - both are GD spots

When I accepted two Guest Designer spots I had not realised that both would be for the same day, it could only happen to me lol. I made the Stamp with Fun card a few weeks ago, the blues/aqua's on both cards wasn't planned - again it could only happen to me!!
My first card is for the Daisy May Designs Challenge and this week the theme is Gems. We all know how much I love my pearls so this was perfect for me lol. I chose this image to work with because it reminds me of summer holidays at the beach when my children were little, that little cutie looks like she is walking along the shore looking out to sea (oh dear, there's the dreamer coming out again lol). I've decided I love this colour combo (wasn't too sure till the card was done) so you will be seeing lots of this lol.

Once I had finished the card I realised that it would qualify for this weeks Cute Card Thursday challenge which is Getting Edgy - lots of distressed and stitched edges on this card. I (not intentionally) used all digi downloads on this card - the image and papers are downloads.
I carried the layout on the front through to the inside, but flipped it for something a bit different.
Daisy May (sheet 6) Digi Image coloured with Prismacolors, sentiment is by Claire Curd
Papers: a mix of freebie and bought downloads
Tools: Sewing Machine, Nestibilities, medium Retro flower punch, Fiskars Apron Lace border punch
Embellies: Prima flowers (and some punched), spacers and here, pearl brads, enamelled cherry charm

My second card is for this weeks Stamp with Fun challenge and I got to do a sketch (my very first one so be gentle with me - how brave was I!!). It's a really simple one and took longer to make the pic in Photoshop than it did to make the card - I am the most computer challenged person I know!!
Bev's sketch 1 stamp with fun
I received this adorable Hanglar & Stanglar stamp for my birthday from a very dear friend (thanks sweetie xxx) and have only got round to inking it up now (I'm totally hopeless!!). The papers have been lying in the cupboard for well over a year now (even more hopeless) and I love these blues, they are so pretty.
I kept the same layout for the inside of the card (I'm so predictable aren't I!!)
Stamps: Hanglar & Stanglar, Stampin Up Circle of Friends (sentiment)
Colouring medium: Distress Inks and H2O's
Papers: Papermania
Tools: Nestibilities Labels 4, round punches
Embellies: Lace from Poppet (thanks sweetie xx), spacers, pearl brads charms

Two cards from me today

Betcha all thought you had escaped me today - no such luck!! I'm running late as I've been busy with my Whiff of Joy project of the month and got totally carried away with it (as you do), but managed to also get a couple of cards done today as well whilst waiting for the paint to dry (that's as much of a clue as you're going to get till next week!!)

My first card is for two challenges - Papertake Weekly has a fab sketch, love working with Dawny P's sketches so had to get this one under the belt. I used a bit of metal (no surprises there then!) so this card also qualifies for My Time To Craft. I received my new DT kit from Janet at Pink Gem and had to ink this cute little frog up straight away.
A close up look at the gold gems and the dragonfly (that was silver so had to be coloured with a Krylon gold pen cos silver didn't look right with the colours). No inside pic (forgot to take one and it's too dark now)
Stamp - Pink Gem Designs Frog Prince and sentiment is from a Scrappy Cat Birthday set
Distress ink and H2O's
Papers: Basic Grey Ambrosia
Tools: Martha Stewart Scallop Dot border punch, Stampin Up tab punch, Cuttlebug bubbles folder
Embellies: Gold gems, Dragonfly charm, Anita's ribbon

My second card is for this weeks Lili of the Valley challenge - three of my Just Magnolia teamies are on the DT there and I am ashamed to say this is my first time entering their challenges (beetroot now). The sketch is a fab one, nice and simple, not too many layers and makes for such a quick and easy card.
I had to sneak the beautiful roses in again from Wild Orchid Crafts - I love love love them!! I gave them a mist with Gold Radiant Rain shimmer mist, unfortunately the pic does not show the shimmer. Hope you can see the depth the roses give to the card. Did I say I LOVE them lol!!
The inside, plain and simple

Stamps: Whiff of Joy Kneeling Willow and sentiment from the Swirls & Sentiments collection
Colouring mediums: Distress ink and H2O's
Papers: Raspberry Road
Tools: Spellbinders Labels One and Ribbon Tags, Martha Stewart Branch punch, Martha Stewart ZigZag punch
Embellies: Roses, Prima Hydrangeas, crystal gems, Hobbycraft Ribbon

Just Magnolia challenge 2 - Pink and Green

What a fabulous response we had to our first challenge last week - thanks so much to all that entered xx.  This week on Just Magnolia we have a colour challenge - Pink and Green,pink-green so anything goes as long as your creation is done with these colours and has a Magnolia image on. We have another fab prize up for grabs this week, and the winner will also be our Guest Designer for the month of May.
Okay - so I need more than a lie down in a dark room - I need therapy big time!! I used up sooooo much of my BG Porcelain papers, I was weak at the knees and sweating bullets!!! Take deep breaths Bev, slowly ... slowly ...

I love this colour combo, so much so I think I prefer it to Brown and Blue and that's saying something lol.  I had some stamped and coloured roses left over from last weeks card that were begging to be used so I popped them on the inside of the card.
I went a little bit OTT on the inside, told you I need therapy! I made a little pouch to pop the tag/bookmark that I wanted to go with the card.
This card has been made for one amazing lady and I wanted a special sentiment inside to say just how much I value her friendship. The sentiments are computer generated, font is Duchesse (a freebie font download), and I stamped around the border with chalk inks and Rubber Stamp Tapestry peg stamps.
Another view of the card, these little roses add such depth and texture to the card I think.
Stamps: Magnolia - Tilda with bunch of roses, and Roses, Rubber Stamp Tapestry for the border on the tag
Colours - Distress inks: Tattered Rose (skin), Worn Lipstick and Peeled Paint (clothes and flowers) - I also added a touch of Tombow green 192 to the green to lift it a bit, Brushed Corduroy/Vintage Photo (hair)
H2O's - Pink Anthirium, Wintermint, Fern (clothes and flowers), Chestnut Brown (hair)
Papers - Basic Grey Porcelain
Tools - Nestibilities, Stampin Up slit punch, Martha Stewart Branch Punch
Embellishments - Tulle (The Hobby House), Hydrangeas, Roses, Pearls

Some blogoversary candy

It's my blogoversary next week (23rd I think) and I have flown past 200,000 hits and I have over 600 wonderful followers so .......... it's candy time again.

Katharina from Whiff of Joy has given the DT some candy to give away again - this time I have been given the Swirls plate with all those delish swirls and sentiments on. Also, Jill from The Hobby House has given me TWO sets of the new Spellbinders Nestibilities - Labels 3 and 4 and a couple of sets of Basic Grey brads and cos it's me blogoversary I've added a bit extra to this, so as per I have added to this a little with some bits and bobs.

What you will win:
Whiff of Joy Swirls and Sentiments plate
Spellbinders Nestibilities Labels 3 AND 4 (a set of each)
2 K&Co pads - Roam and Sparkly Sweet
1 pack of Laura Ashley ribbons - in burgundy, cream and gold
2 packs of Basic Grey brads (180 in each pack)
Approx 100 spacers and charms - gold, silver and enamelled
at least 10 crochet flowers (more if I can find the time to make more) in a variety of colours.

And no birthday candy is complete without a little sweet treat or two so there's also a box of Thornton’s chocolate nuts and a bag of Thornton's toffee (that'll sort the loose fillings out lol).

All you need to do is link my candy on your blog and leave a comment here when you have done so. I will draw the winner using a random generator on Thursday 23rd April. I will post worldwide and this is open to ALL, so if you don't have a blog leave a comment on this post, if you're leaving an anonymous comment please make sure you state your name in the comment.

The winner will be drawn by Random Generator on the 23rd, so please check back then to see if you have been lucky.

Thanks for looking,

Musing Melinda

I am sooo brave! I actually cut my BG Porcelain paper - I need to go lie down in a darkened room for sure lol. I loved all the layers on this weeks Sketch Saturday sketch so dug the BG papers out, took a deep breath and cut!! Not much in the way of embellies on this card, the paper was busy enough I think though I did manage to squeeze a charm on.

The inside, kept pretty simple and more or less to the sketch.
Stamps: Musing Melinda by Whiff of Joy, Anna Griffin sentiment
Colouring Medium: Distress inks: Skin - tattered rose, Hair - antique linen and brushed corduroy, Clothes - worn lipstick and brushed corduroy
H2O's - Hair - buttercup and chestnut, clothes - pink anthirium, chestnut, burnt umber
Papers: Basic Grey Porcelain
Tools: Cuttlebug Swiss Dots, Nestibilities
Embellishments - Prima Flowers, spacers, brads and charm all from The Hobby House

Some awards – thanks so much ladies xx

Papers: Kasier Craft from The Hobby House - and wait till you see the new ones Jill has ordered, I hope they manage to get on the website before they sell out like the last ones did!!)
