Katharina set a brilliant project this month - to create a piggy bank/savings box, so I went a-template-hunting and discovered this house bank template. I had to tweak the template as it was really small and I wanted the house to be big enough for Oakley to sit in front of. I enlarged the template in Photoshop to fit an A4 size.
I printed the template out on to paper, cut and marked it out on to a sheet of 12 x 12 Stampin Up Cutie Pie designer paper (this is such good quality and thick enough to hold the template perfectly without being too thick and heavy). Then cut the house out.
Score along all the score marks as per the template.
Fold along all score lines and use a piece of strong tape (Sticky Stuff from Stampin Up) along the side flap. Adhere this to the other side panel and fold bottom into place.
For the roof, cut the template out and cut out the coin slot. I decided I wanted a gable for the roof (trust me!!) so punched a strip of Regal Rose card with a Fiskars Threading Water punch, cut to the thickness (around 2cm) and scored along the centre.
Measure the length of the front of the roof, cut the "gable" to fit, fold in half and cut through the scallop - NOT all the way through. Fold to approx 90 degree angle and fix the front scallop with a glue dot to hold it in place.
Run sticky strip along the scored length of each gable. Fix the gable to the roof, ensuring there is no gaps.
Glue the roof to the roof flaps on the house.
Decorate with stamped images. I used Oakley with Slipover and the Chick from the Whiff of Joy Spring Club Kit, and Autumn Grass from the Accessories – all stamps are available individually if you missed out of the delish Club kit. The images were coloured with Distress Inks and Twinkling H2O’s.
