This weeks Whiff of Joy challenge is to make a Christmas card for a boy - no blue. Out came Herb again (just love this little guy) but have just realised the colours are so similar to the card I did for last weeks challenge - I'm in the bottle green and burgundy mood at the mo lol. Oh well, too late to change it now.
I thought I would be clever and stitch with gold embroidery thread - BAD idea!! My sewing machine did not like this thread one bit and if you could see the back of the paper you would fall about laughing. There is more breaks, joins and tape on the back than actual stitching. The whole lot almost went out of the window last night ARGH! But I'm glad I persevered, I love the effect of the gold on the dark papers. If anyone knows of a brand of gold cotton that gets along with a sewing machine please leave me a comment - I will be eternally grateful lol.
I've coloured Herb from Whiff of Joy with the usual distress inks and H2O's, added sparkle with a quickie glue pen and glamour dust. I think the snowflakes can just be seen in the pic, they are much more sparkly IRL.
The papers are HOTP, the snowflakes are Stampin Up Snow Flurries (love these!!) - I deepend the colour with Bravo Burgundy to tone in with the papers a bit better, the sentiment is a Studio G stamp that I have punched out with a SU Word Window punch.
Thanks for looking,
