Mr Frosty and transforming lilies into poinsettias

Morning!  I’ve a Christmas card to share today and also a peek at how I change up the Wild Orchid Crafts lilies to look like poinsettias.  Okay, so originally this started out as a card for a man, but then the flowers crept in, then I added pearls and well, now it’s not!

bev-rochester-mr-frosty-30-8

I love this Mr Frosty stamp, soooo cute!

Copic colours used:
White: C3, 1, 0, 00
Hat: E27, 25, 21
Birds/Jumper: E43, 42, 41, 40
Red: R46, 35, 14
Turquoise: BG75, 72, 70
Leaves: YG67, 63, G20

A close up of the transformed lilies.

bev-rochester-mr-frosty-30-8-2

I pulled them apart, used a large ball tool on the back to shape then reattached using strong glue.  I finished off with a pearl in the middle.  The poinsettias on this card were the first I made, subsequent ones I have cut buts out of the sides (as in the picture below) to give a more realistic look.  You can also dab a bit of green ink in the centre and tips (again which I have done with subsequent flowers that I have made using the lilies)

bev-rochester-mr-frosty-30-8-5

To get the seam binding so crinkled I wet and scrunched up tight and left it overnight to dry,  This really makes it super crinkly Smile

bev-rochester-lotv-fishing-25-8-2

I wasn’t too sure of the colours of the paper when I first started, I’m afraid of dark colours lol.  But I ♥ how this one turned out, I think the dark brown really sets the aqua off.

In the lamplight

I’m on a Christmas card roll, I just love all the bling I can add to them.

bev-rochester-lotv-lamplight-18-8

The poinsettias started off life as lilies, LOVE how they turned out (I’ve done a mini tutorial which will go live on my blog on the 30th so check back then to see just how easy they are to do)/

The sparkly silver balls are from Wild Orchid Crafts, I’ll link them up at the end of the post.  The smaller silver pearls are from The Range – from the new Forever Friends release. ♥

Vintage Christmas

I had a sheet of Vintage images sat on my desk as well as a new frame die and they just begged to be matched up.  I love it when inspiration is just sat there waiting, and a super quick vintagey card is the result.

bev-rochester-vintage-christmas-card-woc-16-8

Love the frosty look the crushed glass gives the flowers

bev-rochester-vintage-christmas-card-woc-16-82

Not to forget the new Xmas trees dies!  LOVE these.

bev-rochester-vintage-christmas-card-woc-16-83

I really had such fun making this card – as well as making a dent in the Christmas cards I need to make.

Sarah Kay Tea Please!

Do you know, I’ve had this stamp since about 4 months before it was even released and have only now gotten round to colour it.  Sadly Stampavie (SK distributors) are no longer thanks to epic piracy BUT this stamp is still available at Which Craft (link at end of post)

sarah-kay-tea-please-

I loved colouring her up to give a vintagey feel to the card, so used Copic W3 liberally.  Colours used

Skin: E21, 11, 00, 000, R20
Hair: E27, 25, 53
Pink: W3, RV32, 11, 10, R0000
Green: W3, YG63, 61, G20
Grey: W3, 1, 0, 00

I usually don’t use E21 but I have been having problems with my skin tone pens so instead of buying new ones I decided to flush the whole pen out using alcohol and then replacing the nibs.  The colours were still a bit diluted when I coloured this (they are fine now) so had to resort to the E21.  Saved myself a fortune too Smile

sarah-kay-tea-please-1

The fence die arrived in the mail so I had to use it.  Love this one so much, and even though I cut off a third from the width it didn’t lose it’s impact.

sarah-kay-tea-please-2

Love how the large rose works on this card.  Sometimes the larger flowers can be too obtrusive and look clunky, but this one fits perfectly.

sarah-kay-tea-please-3

Annnnd … a peek at the inside.  I am so in my happy place when I can make cards using my favourite images and Sarah Kay and Whimsy Stamps win hands down Open-mouthed smile

Wee Rosetta

I’m back to the purple again.  I absolutely love purple and green together, I don’t now why I don’t use it more.

bev-rochester-whimsy-wee-rosetta-purple

I coloured up Wee Rosetta with copic markers

Hair: E57, 53, 51, 50
Skin: E13, 11, 00, 000, R20
Green: BG99, 96, 93, 90
Purple: V99, 95, 93, 91
Leaves: YG67, 63, G20

bev-rochester-whimsy-wee-rosetta-purple1

LOVE the cutouts from Wild Orchid Crafts.  The lantern and bird I coloured with a pale wash of Milled Lavender DI

bev-rochester-whimsy-wee-rosetta-purple2

The leafy cutout I coloured with bundled sage then went cah-razy with the pearls again.

A tag and a gift box

Two very different projects today.  First up is a male themed tag – I never thought I would get into making tags but I love them!  They really jazz up a gift

bev-rochester-noor-sea-themed-tag

How cute is this little sailing boat die?

bev-rochester-noor-sea-themed-tag2

I used copper embossing powder on the chipboard buttons, paper art ships wheel and knot die cut

bev-rochester-noor-sea-themed-tag1

And now onto something girlie Smile  Here’s a little gift box I made using a Noor Design baroque template that was released a couple of weeks ago.  This was so quick and easy I think I’ll be making a lot more for Christmas to pop homemade fudge and florentines in

bev-rochester-noor-baroque-box-template

Love the rustic look the string gives the elegant box shape

bev-rochester-noor-baroque-box-template1

The box has a decent depth to it

It’s Christmas!

Oh dearie me, I’ve made my second Christmas card for the year.  It’s all downhill from here now lol.  This is for the Noor! Design August challenge, which is Christmas.

bev-rochester-noor-pink-christmas

I’ve used the fabulous Shabby Christmas papers, they are just YUM!  Add in the Merry Christmas picture pad and you have a really quick and easy card.  I adhered the waste stars from the new Winter Wishes Circle Star die on to the sentiment (inked with Weathered Wood Ink then blinged with some stickles)

bev-rochester-noor-pink-christmas1

Loving the shabby pink and pale blue colour scheme of these papers.
