‘Lil Bells

I’ve at last managed to get a card done using one of my Whimsy Stamps from the last release (good going Bev seeing as the new release is due soon!).  Still it’s a total little cutie so better late than never.  The stamp is called ‘Lil Bells by Elisabeth Bell.

bev-rochester-elisabeth-bell-lil-bells

I had a bit of a play last night, the first time in a long time I have been bothered to do so.  I really don’t like whinging on but for the past 3 or 4 months I have been feeling so poorly it’s been struggle to drag myself to and from work and trying to keep awake.  So, I have not been taking the strong painkillers for my longstanding back problem (else I would sleep 24/7) so that’s the back flared up again as well as feeling so poorly.  Long story short my TSH readings (thyroid) are too high again.  This happened a few years back when the reading went up to 17.8, this time it’s even higher – it’s now in the 20’s so no wonder I have been feeling so rubbish.  My thyroxine has been increased but it’s such a slow process for me to notice any change that I guess I will be feeling rubbish for several weeks yet Sad smile

Anyhow, back to my playing – I have seen these twirly “things” on several Scandinavian blogs and eventually tracked them down.  And sorry, but no way am I paying those prices for a bunch of twirlies.  No siree!  So I twirled the leftover stems from my mulberry roses around a thin piece of dowel, coated the twirl in pva glue and dunked them in German Glass Glitter.  LOVE the result and they cost nothing as I had the glitter in already.  A few packs of those bought twirlies are the cost of a stamp gulp!  Soooo, ta daaaaa pink twirlies to match the colours on my card that accentuate the flowers Smile.  I love a bargain me haha.  I got silver ones done for tomorrows card ..... Small thing amuse small minds!

And it's even more of a bargain when the German Glass Glitter is half price!!!  Get over to Wild Orchid Crafts NOW and fill yer boots, at £1.85 for a generous serving it ain't going to hang about for long!  I used the 100 grit but have used the 80 grit as well and both work.  You can find it here

bev-rochester-elisabeth-bell-lil-bells-2

I used a couple of tags in a pocket for the inside for a change.  The papers are My Minds Eye Blush matted on to Kraft card.

bev-rochester-elisabeth-bell-lil-bells1

And yes I have used that gorgeous Joycrafts Fleur de Lys corner die, man I love that die!
The seam binding and flowers are all from Wild Orchid Crafts.  I used Trellis rose, 20mm roses, 15mm roses and cherry blossoms.  I embellished the corner die with pearls.

Oops I got a bit carried away with the pictures.

  7. Hi Bev
First to say your card is gorgeous, beautiful detail as always.
I have an under active thyroid too, it is like living a life on a roller coaster of ups and downs. I'm seeing a specialist in Liverpool, he is going to try me on new 2 part part tablets for t3 and t4 . If you only see your GP ask to see a specialist , it may help.
Hope you feel a litle better soon , I do sympathise.

Your "twirlies" look lovely. I've looked at the "German Glass Glitter" on Wild Orchid Crafts and they sell medium Grit and Fine Grit, so I would be grateful if you could state which one you've used.

  45. What a gorgeous card, love the little kitten, and the twirlies! Sorry to hear you are feeling unwell, I have a permanent back problem & have to take strong painkillers to be able to work - it is difficult when it flares up further, so I understand where you're coming from. My upper back has started playing up too recently. Crafting doesn't help as you are leaning towards the desk while you work, but it also relaxes your mind, so catch 22. I badly overheat so was tested for thyroid probs as all my family have it but thankfully I don't yet. I should think its pretty miserable while they tweak your thyroxine. I hope it settles down soon and you can find a back painkiller you can live with. Have you tried heatwraps? They do take the edge off - although they boil me up, am I right thinking you get cold?

    ReplyDelete
  46. fantastic card as always Bev - just love that image! hope you're feeling better soon - I can sympathise (currently on 200mcg thyroxine - but levels still fluctuate and I know how c**p you can feel!).

  56. Can fully appreciate how low you're feeling - I forgot to take my thyroxine for a whole 2 months & it was only when complaining to my GP about a myriad of symptoms & he suggested checking it, that it suddenly hit me. Problem is that once you've been off it for even a week, your brain's already in freefall, so you've little chance of remembering without some help thereafter.

Frustrating to have dose-related symptoms though too as you are but at least you've some light at the end of the tunnel with it all :) x

I don't know how anyone could keep your output going, even in rude good health. Perhaps you should rename your blog 'The creations of Wonder Woman'. Just one word of warning, please be very careful with pain relief medication, it can and does wreck stomachs! With every good wish for a speedy return to an acceptable 'normal'.

    With great admiration and appreciation,
