Sweet Romance and how I store my nesties

Oooh get me, getting all patriotic already and it’s still months to go to the Olympics lol.  I’ve booked 2 weeks holiday off work so I don’t miss a minute of it on the telly.  We would have loved to have gone down to London to see some of the events but with Tony’s surgery looming we didn’t want to chance it.  But the banners will be flying and creamed teas will be the order of the day lol.

So on to my card for today, I have used another of the newest Stampavie stamps, this one is called Sweet Romance and I let the stunning Maja Design papers lead the design of the card.

I especially love this stamp as I could go to town on the folds on her dress.  I must have spent a good couple of hours colouring this, so relaxing only to be undone by that oval die!!!  OMG I must have cut it half a dozen times and ripped it each time I tried to take it out of the die.  I tried cutting with baking parchment, greaseproof paper, tried rubbing a tumble drier sheet over the card and the die and ended up having to rub a bar of soap over the die just so I could get the wretched thing out.  My paddy really got the better of me on this one!!  BP was through the roof and the air was blue lol.  I had a hissy fit to beat all hissy fits hahaha and doubt I will be using this die set again in a hurry!

Colours used on the image are:

Hat: E53, 51, 50
Skin: E11, 00, 000, 0000,  E93 (new colour for cheeks and I love it, so much more natural)
Reds: E29, 27, 24, 22 and Tuscan Red Pencil
Blues: B39, 37, 34, 32 Navy and Cool Grey 90% pencil
Beige: E43, 42, 41, 40 and warm grey 70% pencil
Hair and shoes: E25, 23

Check out those dinky toadstools – LOOOVE them!!  They are from Flourish with a Bling and are just perfect for popping in-between flowers, too cute!  The flowers are all from Wild Orchid CraftsTrellis rose, 25mm rose, 20mm rose, 15mm roses, crochet flowers, stamens.  The metal corner and satin ribbon is also from WOC.

And the inside is finished off to compliment the front (complete with another of those wretched ovals lol)

And now for some nesties storage.  I store mine on A4 self adhesive magnetic sheets from First4Magnets.  The larger dies I store on A4 sheets which are popped into A4 poly folders and make life so easy as they are all kept in one place and so simple to flick through to find what I am looking for.  And pardon the bits still stuck in the dies, I am a mucky pup lol. Embarrassed smile

And just caught at the bottom of the picture is how I store my smaller dies.  I use the Stamp Pouches from Lili of the Valley and chop the card to fit the pouches then cut down the magnet sheets to fit.  Some sets of nesties I put the magnet back to back so I can still store the complete set including scallops in one pouch, some like the ovals and rectangles I can get them both on the one side. But the other day I discovered the sheets flexible rectangles and dots that I think will work so much better for smaller dies so have ordered some to give them a try.

Back off to work I go, must dash and get ready

  9. oh, and for folk whose hands are not so good, I've found it quite easy to select nestie if they are on a piece of magnet backed foam kept inside a heavy gauge plastic CD wallet (with name on top flap) filed in categories in a long 6 inch wide 'really useful storage box' - easy to flick through as these dies get fairly heavy when the collection keeps growing lol Mary G x

  22. I love everything about this card, the colours, the embellies, the colouring......I got some Zest-it to use with my prismacolour pencils and it seems to work. Have you tried waxed paper in your dies? In this country you need to go to a specialist cake making accessory shop but it really does work. It is quite different to greaseproof and others things we get here in the UK.

  24. Great card. Love the bold colors. Like the idea for storing dies. I store mine on 8 1/2 x 11 magnetic sheets, then slip it into a heavy plastic folder and put them in a 3 ring binder. The small ones I do in boxes like you've done. Edna

  28. Stunning card Bev - the image and colours are perfect.

Working right next door to the Olympic Stadium (Stratford East London is classified as 'the Olympic park') I can assure folk that travel during the Olympics will not be fun - the station can't cope now so watching on the TV will be much less stressful.

  39. LOVE love love the card--the colors are awesome, and the dress looks 3D! thanks for the warning on the die--I have that one, too, and was wondering if it was going to be a pain in the behind to pull out the paper. I have gone through a bunch of methods to store my 'Spells' and my latest was something I found on the i-net: Using magnetic cut sheets to hold the dies, I slid them into the mini hanging folders of a Memorex File-n-Store CD/DVD storage box. I've got 80 sets in one box and need to buy one or 2 more boxes yet plus more magnetic sheets. For me, this has been the best solution (so far). They are very compact, and not bulging out of the large magnetic album they were in before this method. Staples Office supplies has the boxes for $14.99--great price for a nice, compact storage solution. They are hanging folders and have spaces to type the die name. 80 dies in a 6.5" x 6.5" x 6" cube...I love it!

  42. Another gorgeous card as always Bev.
Wax paper is the way to go with intricate dies Bev, I bought a roll of wax paper from Lakeland, about £7.95 for 82', the die cuts just fall out of the dies, even the very intricate ones.

  47. People who have never coloured with Copics have NO IDEA how much time and patience it takes to complete an image and using red's is THE most difficult colour. You have once again taken it over the top, Bev ... magnificent.
