My craft room … before and after

We are still waiting for a few niggly things to be finished off, the cupbaord that will house the dishwasher and washing machine (yes I have to share my craft space with those two pieces of essential equipment) but it’s almost there so I thought I would show you the before and after pics.  I still have stuff to rearrange, just need to find the time to get it all done.

A wee warning, there are a lot of photos!  Starting off with the only pic I have of it back to the bare brick.  The doggies were supervising lol.

1

Rockwool (hateful but essential stuff) and boards up, that poor hubby of mine had no space to work so it was a case of constantly having to move things around to work.

2

Check out those gorgeous (NOT!!) blinds … a roll of thin polystyrene that was stapled up above the new door so we had a bit of privacy.

3

Walls, floor and ceilings finished, and we have light!! Tony had to chop away a bit of one of the beams to fit the sliding wardrobe in.  Because the room was a garage there was not a lot of height once the floor was raised to the level of the rest of the house.

3b

I LURVE my floor lol.  And check out all the plugs!!  He thought of everything Smile

3c

The die cutting area looking on from the kitchen, complete with my “beast”, the Big Shot Pro – how did I ever manage without it?  Tony has a little work area next to the die cutting area, just big enough to fit his chair in so he can keep me company Red heart

4

The Ikea drawers house all my ink pads, reinkers, glitter glues, etc.

4a

I store all my Spellbinders/Die-Namics, PTI, Marianne etc dies in the plastic pockets from Lili of the Valley on vinyl magnet sheets that I get from eBay.  I trim them to fit the pockets and this way can sort the dies in a way that works for me.  I still have round a quarter to label and file in place.  What a laborious job!

5

The steel cabinet was another eBay purchase that houses all my charms.

6

This pic was taken from the top end of the craft room, see how that wardrobe just fitted in where Tony chopped some of the beam out.  The little unit the telly is standing on needs to go when we can find a white one that will house his toys (PS3 etc).

The sliding wardrobe houses all my ribbons, stamps, 12 x 12 paper and Wild Orchid Crafts Flowers

7

Stamps and coloured card

10

WOC Flowers, 12 x 12 paper and a bit of spare space that I still need to fill

11

And now my messy side.  The cupboards above where I work house all the stuff that I use constantly.  The pink chair needs to be painted desperately.  I managed to find the eggshell paint today from Homebase, did I struggle to get Farrow and Ball up here in the North East!

The larder cupboard next to the curtains holds all my 6 x 6 pads, I was ashamed when I saw just how many I have Embarrassed smile

8

My Martha Stewart Punches.  I have another of these on the opposite side of the room that houses all my other punches.

9

Where I play Smile

12

Love those metal containers from Ikea, so pretty.

13

Copics storage still to be spray painted white – I will get there eventually lol.

14

And that’s my little space that I play in every spare moment I have.  I still can’t believe that my hubby did all this for me.  He had help with fitting the french doors from a fab friend who works away a lot but when he is home he is always there for us – thanks Bill, and my son in law with the floor and back door and my son helped with the ceiling panels (it helps having a uber tall son lol).  The rest he did himself despite the pain he is constantly in.  Thank you babe, you are the BEST mwah xxxx

  3. Love the sliding wardrobe idea Bev ! I'd been considering getting 2 of the tallest 3 bay shelf units + really usesfull boxes from storage for crafts but you've now got me thinking that a wall of wardrobes might be the better option.

I feel so much better about having a whole closet full of WOC now that I know i'm not alone lolol.

Hubby did a super job ! Im still waiting on mine to finish and put the french doors in so that my work room opens out onto the sunroom.

  129. Oooh, Bev, your new craft is AWESOME!!!. I am soooo envious. My little den would fit in one quarter of your room - and you have it so well organised. I just love, love, love it. You are even allowing the little dogs to share :D. Your husband is one gem. Health to enjoy.

  130. Love the transformation of your craft room. I watch a lot of DIY TV. I hope that beam your hubby cut is not a support beam? You could end up with structural problems if it is.

  131. Thanks for your concern Rebecca, after the amazing job and research my hubby did I have every confidence that shaving less than two inches from a 14" wide beam that is one of six supports for flat felt roof is not going to affect the structure of the building. :)
