Just Magnolia – Special Monthly Challenge

It’s the first Friday of the month so time for our Special Monthly Challenge which as always is sponsored by Heidi and her team from Simon Says Stamp with a $30 voucher, and she even pays the shipping!

We have decided to have a little change on how we run our Special Monthly Challenges.  We want to inject a bit of fun into it (and make life easier for us all) so from this challenge onwards we are going to set the Special Monthly challenges as "Anything Goes".

Today the design team are all using the Crackled Glass technique (which is what the challenge was going to be originally).  If you would like to join our challenge we would love to have you try out this technique OR "Anything Goes", it is up to you.

magnolia-cracked-glass-2

Well I attempted the cracked glass technique – let me tell you I am nearly BALD!!  I coloured and cracked the image SIX times, I was going to take a pic of all the botched attempts but it’s bin day today and when I went to get them out the bin my super efficient hubby had already emptied it and I ain’t going digging in a wheelie bin for no-one lol.  Just image – my big bum stuck over a wheelie bin.  On second thoughts don’t imagine it!!!  The mind boggles lol.  I was so unhappy with the card as soon as I had photographed it I ripped the cracked image off and coloured another and popped this one onto the card.  Aaaah much better lol.  Anyhoo, back to me card.

magnolia-cracked-glass-1

This was the best of the lot – when the crack went across her face I could have cried (even the dogs had their paws over their ears when I started screaming lol.

I coloured the image with Copics, then messed it, then tried distress inks, then messed that, then went back to the copics …. you get my drift lol.  So I don’t have the colours I used as there were pens flying everywhere last night lol.

magnolia-cracked-glass-4

I stamped around the image with a Magnolia swirl stamp, the sentiment is also Magnolia.  The flowers and lace are all from Wild Orchid Crafts, I used 40mm hybrid tea rose, 25mm hybrid tea roses, 15mm roses, 10mm roses, 8mm semi open roses and 4mm rose buds.  The pearls are also from Wild Orchid Crafts.  The paper is Marainne D’s Old Fashioned Christmas.

magnolia-cracked-glass-3

And here she is in all her wrinkle/crack free glory minus the cracked glass technique!!  Wish my wrinkle filler worked as well rofl.

mag3

If you’re still with me I’m impressed lol – I sure did waffle and chunter on today.

Thanks for stopping by,

  69. Bev I am laughing at all your going on about how you didnt like the card and in awe at its beauty. I am sure not one of us would agree with you and the crackle across her face, didn't even notice it with the beauty of the card. Remember hand made cards are one of a kinds, mistakes are okay, it adds character to them (NOT that there is any flaw in that card I might add@!)

  74. Hi Bev, I'm just reading your story about the piccies that went wrong for you - and your disgust at the cracking across the face of this one... before i started reading - looked at the image and thought - what an adorable image and fab technique. Years ago, when Change Rooms and all the spin off programmes were in vogue - I went to a class and used crackle glaze - if my projects would have turned out as great as this - i'd have been ecstatic - we would rub a dark ink into the cracks to age the look... believe me - this is a super image and looks like you meant it to happen like this...

Your work is absolutely stunning and i've just been watching C&C and realised by coming here - that all the samples Jane Nesterenko has been showing - most of them are by you - and they are quality and stunning... why can't my stuff turn out like this!!!

Thank you also for the gingham papers (yee haw)!!! I've downloaded a couple of colours that I think i'll use - i have 2 babies due ( not personally) in the next week - so perfect timeing!!!

Thanks for being generous and sharing your talents. Please keep up the good work.
