Whiff of Joy challenge and a magazine card

I have two cards today – get me lol.  The first is for this fortnight’s Whiff of Joy challengeKim has done us a fab sketch to follow, sadly I have not done it or the image justice.  I am in so much pain with my back and legs that crafting has been pretty difficult this past couple of days.

woj-2010-summer

I have used Oakley from the Whiff of Joy Fun in the Sun kit.  I’ve coloured the image with Copics (colours below).  The papers are DCWV Linen Closet.  The flower was made by punching out 3 circles and assembling with a brad.

My next card was done a few months ago for the latest Magnolia magazine.  Unfortunately I don’t know if it has been published as I didn’t buy the magazine because Magnolia promised the DT that if they did cards for the magazine then they would be sent one.  Sadly this is just one of the promises they made that they broke.  So here’s the card.

Bev-Beach-card-1

I used the Linen Closet papers on this card (it was when I was making the WOJ card above that I remembered I had made this card).  The image was coloured with distress inks but it was so long ago now I can’t remember which colours I used.

Bev-Beach-card-3

The lace border is a Spellbinders die and the flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts.

Thanks so much for stopping by today.

So sorry to hear that you're suffering at the moment, Bev - how miserable for you.

Anyway, you've produced another 2 wonderful cards and I did admire 'Paddling Tilda' in the magazine. Magnolia have such wonderful images it's such a shame that they don't have a more businesslike approach to what they do.

Stunning cards Bev. Love both!!

I've just ordered the summer kit but sometimes I think it's not worth it for all the worry that they won't come and what with Magnolia's don't care approach if it doesn't arrive.... ugh!! They need to start treating their DT a little better!!

Sorry to hear you're in pain. Hope you feel better real soon!!

Gorjuss card as normal. and magnolia are mad if they didn't publish it. I aint that impressed with how they work. my local craft shop waited forever for there order. so by the time we got our mags it was to late to enter the competition. think they need to change the way they do things.

Hi Bev
sorry to hear you are in so much pain, hope it soon eases for you. I don't normally give out advice regarding health, but as I am a trainer for moving & handling I thought it is worth mentioning. When/if you are standing or sitting for long periods of time,(ie making cards etc) you need to take regular breaks every hour, (and I know this isn't easy if you have deadlines to meet),you need to walk around (if you have been sitting), or (if you stand card making), have a sit down. The only reason I am giving out this advice is because I (along with many other's) have noticed how many card maker's are suffering pain in their back/legs.
hope this helps, and you soon feel better.
hugs

Hi Bev
me again, sorry forgot to say your cards are both lovely. Magnolia need to be carefull as there are lots of people that are fed up with their don't care less attitude, it is not only their designer's that are fed up with them, I know of two (major) retailer's that are also fed up with them, they will only get away with it for so long.
hugs
Sandra (craftynan)
