Just Magnolia - Monochrome

This week the Just Magnolia challenge is monochrome. Now there was some confusion amongst the DT (me especially) - some of us have interpreted it as it should be - shades of all one colour, others have interpreted it as one colour plus white. So we're leaving this up to you as to which way you decide to go.bev

So, here's my interpretation - guess who didn't Google the word monochrome before she made her card rofl.  I used these gorgeous Melissa Francis papers, just love the country look to them.  The punched border is done with an EK Success punch that I picked up from The Hobby House at the show last week - I have a serious addiction to punches lol - takes me almost as long to choose the punch as it does the papers!!.  The flowers - I punched some little heart petal flowers and plonked some tiny roses in the centres, the leaves are punched with the Ash Branch punch.  The little pearl hearts are new in at The Hobby House and the gorge ribbon is a rak from Tab, thanks sweetie xx

Willow and stocking - Whiff of Joy Winter kit

Here's my first card using an image from the new Whiff of Joy Winter kit.  Oh my if you have ordered the kit you sure are in for a treat!!!  The images are fabulous - I sat and drooled for a good 5 minutes before I decided which image to use first lol.

I went for this adorable cutie.  I'm not sure what her official name is but I think she's a Willow?  I coloured her with Copics and love the vibrancy of the pens (must be cos I've had more practice they don't seem as garish as they did when I first started using them).

The gorgeous crystal ribbon slider is from The Hobby House - Jill has some gorgeous sliders in stock and they are a bargain!  I don't think they will be in stock for long, not at those prices.willow-stocking

Recipe:
Stamps:  From the Whiff of Joy winter kit
Papers: Plum Pudding (Craftwork Cards)
Tools: Oval nestibilities, Tag and word window punch - SU
Embellies: Oval ribbon slider, poinsettia, large crystal brad, large spacer (Jill is hoping to have these in stock soon!!)

Whiff of Joy challenge and a new illustrator for Whiff of Joy

Yep, Whiff of Joy has a new illustrator, Norma Fickel, and we have 6 adorable little gnomes to play with lol.  They are so sweet and whimsical and so easy to colour too!  These stamps will be released on 31st October.  Our very own Sonja has designed another fab set of swirls, flourishes and snowflakes (and ... shhhh .... I have another candy coming up soon lol)w1a

Our challenge on Whiff of Joy is a colour combo - Red, Cream and one other colour.  So, with all the sweet Christmas stamps I have to work with I'm sticking with Christmas lol.  I am not too keen on how the colouring turned out - told you I needed loads more practice with these here Copics!!

A close up of the flower detail, and the teeny little pine cones I picked up in the fields whilst walking the dogs yonks ago (knew they would come in handy one day!!)

Recipe:
Stamps: Whiff of Joy gnome image and Christmas swirls (sorry I don't know her name yet), sentiment Anna Griffin

Fa-la-la-la-la

I just love this Christmas stamp, especially the little lad wiv his hat flopped over his eyes singing his little heart out lol.  The sentiment is so perfect for the image too, I inked up the top line and stamped this in the top corner of the card, then inked up the bottom line of the stamp and stamped that in the bottom opposite corner.falala

The poinsettias have been spritzed with Cosmic Shimmer Lava Red, I inked the edges of the punched holly leaves with a dark green chalk ink and creased the leaves along the centre to give a bit of dimension to them.falala-1

Recipe:
Stamps: Children Caroling and Fa-la-la sentiment both by Motivet
Papers: Bo Bunny
Tools: Martha Stewart scallop punch, Woodware 3" Xmas flower punch (leaves) from The Hobby House – LOVE this punch!!!
Embellies: Brads, spacers and ribbon all from The Hobby House

Holly Pixie

Well, my Copics got yet another airing - who knows I may just get used to them!  But hoo boy, are reds difficult or are reds difficult!  This image must have taken at least a couple of hours to colour.  holly-pixie

I've added some Flowersoft to her dress and the tops of her boots and stickles to the holly for a bit of bling.  I dug out this old Anna Griffin paper - who would have thought that AG and Pixie Chicks would work together!  Shows what you can get away with when making Christmas cards lol.  Apologies for the pants picture – I am struggling with the dark days we have had this past week, rain rain and more rain :(holly-pixie1

Stamps: Charmed Delectable Stamps - Holly Pixie, Sentiment Cuddly Buddly
Papers: Anna Griffin and Bo Bunny

Mojo Monday – in the pink

I’ve done a quick card for this week’s Mojo Monday challenge (seeing as I usually miss them and love Julee'’s sketches)motivet-pink-girl-1

I have used Girl in the snow from Motivet, and Kaiser Xmas papers from The Hobby House.  The flowers I made using a SU 5 petal flower punch, some SU card and some Twinklets (loving this stuff soooo much lol – not that you can tell) – oh and the big jewel brads and spacers are also from The Hobby House, as is the snowflake charm.  The sentiment is from Crafty Sentiments, perfect for the image.  I’ve applied Glamour dust to the snow on the image but it’s not showing up too well in the pictures – it doesn’t look like blogs IRL.  Ivory Flowersoft was applied to the fur on her hat and cape.motivet-pink-girl-2

Whiff of Joy DT - Henry Mouse

I can't believe I have had these papers for well over a year now and forgot I had them!! They were not bought together nor are they the same manufacturer but work so well together. I just love the vibrancy of the poinsettia paper. I kept the layout pretty simple to show off the paper as best I could. I also used one of the new sentiments from Crafty Sentimentswoj-henry-mug-of-choc

I did one of those button bow things (stitched two loops together and glued to the back of the button that I had threaded some of the ribbon through) and dangled off some tiny little bells that I found lying in a drawer (I wonder how long those have been there for!!!)woj-henry-mug-of-choc2

Another shotwoj-henry-mug-of-choc1

Recipe:
Stamps: Whiff of Joy Henry with Hot Chocolate, sentiment Crafty Sentiments
Paper: Bo Bunny dotted paper, Carol Wilson
Tools: Nestibilities, EK Success Oval punch
Embellishments: Poinsettias (spritzed with Cosmic Shimmer Lava Red), pearl brads coloured with a Copic marker, raffia ribbon (Hobbycraft) and I think that's where I got the bells from last year too. Ribbon from The Hobby House

Whiff of Joy Challenge - a sketch for you

This week our challenge on Whiff of Joy is a sketch by Heather. I have used this adorable little Angel Henry Mouse. The papers are HOTP from an old QVC kit that I forgot I had. The snowflakes are punched with a MS punch and I've coated them with Twinklets. The cute sentiment is from Crafty Sentiments.woj-angel-henry

Truly Scrumptious

Here's a quick card I did using Mina's fabulous sketch on Truly Scrumptious - scrumptious the sketch sure is. I have another series of cards to make for The Hobby House using these gorgeous blue and teal papers, which I think are just perfect for the cute little nativity image from Stampavie which I coloured with Copics.stampavie-nativity-1
I have once again attacked the poinsettias with Twinklets, although they are more of a winter white than the snow white I think they look okay. I also attacked the pearl brads with a Copic marker (also recoloured the pins too).stampavie-nativity-2
I applied some Fun Flock to his hat, and Stickles to his halo, not sure how well it's showing up in this pic.stampavie-nativity-3
I’m dashing now to go and do some blog hopping.stampavie-nativity-4

Recipe:
Stamps: Gillian Roberts Nativity 3, sentiment (which is just perfect for this image) from
Crafty Sentiments
Papers: Heidi Grace Snowflake Garden and Crystal Snow
Tools: Nestibilities Labels 4, MS Branch punch
Embellies:
Poinsettias, large & medium pearl brads, large spacer, small heart spacers and Twinklets all from The Hobby House

Sketch and Stash challenge - 1st Magnolia DT card

Here's my first official Magnolia DT card, got to get it off in the post to Magnolia today. What a weird feeling to actually be doing a DT card for them, I guess it's made it all real lol.dt-magnolia-tilda-peaches

The beautiful papers were in the DT kit along with the stamp - I had not got any of their papers (forgot to get some when I was at Ally Pally) but after working with them last week I had to go and order some from Dies to die for. Excellent service, thanks Tracy.
dt-magnolia-tilda-peaches2
I used the sketch from Sketch & Stash challenge, but once again fiddled with the sketch and moved the flowers to the bottom (the rose was too big and made the card look top heavy so on the bottom it went).  A close up of the flowers, love these big roses from Hobbycraft which I spritzed with Hydrangea Glimmer Mist.dt-magnolia-tilda-peaches-1

Recipe:
Stamp: Magnolia Tilda picking peaches
Papers: Magnolia
Embellies: Raffia ribbon from Hobbycraft, large rose from Hobbycraft, small roses from Wild Orchid Crafts, large leaves from my Magnolia DT kit
