I have come across several blogs that are taking up this campaign and I am 100% behind them. Blog hopping can become such a chore when word verification is on. It's so easy to turn it off and any spam comments are easily deleted if you have comment moderation turned on.Jane has an excellent post about it here - 3 cheers for those campaigning against word verification, so if you have it enabled please consider taking it off and putting comment moderation on instead and save my sanity.

this is a great idea, actually...i have it turned off and i don't even moderate my comments, it's easy enough to delete the offensive ones or the spam if i get any, which i dont' very often

If I do get to much spam I will turn it back on. but your right some peaple that watch my blog doesn't know how to give a reaction. hopefully they will understand it better without the word verification.

Thanks for reminding me! It turns out I didn't have it on. For my original blog - but I had forgotten to turn it off on my English one! Very thankful for the reminder as I don't like it, myself - and am HAPPY to see it gone from my blog! :D

I turned mine off ages ago as it drives me nuts on other blogs! some of us don't see so good, and on occasions I've given up leaving a comment because I can't see the blasted letters clearly! annie x

ReplyDeleteYes for those of us who leave comments on several sites each and every day, this is a chore that takes so much time. I go blog hopping every day since I am disabled and this is important to me. I love the designers and appreciate that they do blogs for us. I think that the readers of this type of materials aren't a problem: do you know of anyone who has left malicious comments about a card? I've not seen any and from what I have read by the folks who use the comment moderation, it hasn't happened to them either. I'm sure this is a chore for them to moderate each comment we send too. It should be viewed from both sides. This is a limited industry, albeit, a growing industry. But most of our "ladies" don't have bad intentions with their comments. ReplyDeleteich hab auch wieder ausgeschaltet, ich gebe viel keinen Kommentar, weil mir das zu lange dauert mit der Wortbestätigung, und manchmal muss man 3mal drücken ehe der Kommentar da ist, das kostet viel zeit.

Unlike quite a few people, I did get a lot of spam comments - sometimes 3 or 4 a day and some were pretty gross. I had to turn on moderation. It all depends on how much traffic you get and how far up you are on the search engines. I get good traffic and am far up the search, so this is why I was a target. I don't mind taking a couple minutes a day to moderate the comments. I haven't gotten ANY spam since then either.
